Working Rotary plow!23 Mar 2005 04:19 GMT1
Hey Yankees! If any of you guys up North have garden railroads check this

neat.

Fleichmann track (N Gauge)23 Mar 2005 00:49 GMT2
Someone asked me to comment on experiences with Fleichmann track - I
am still between homes but laid out some track on a scrap of timber to
give things a try.
There are two types, Fleichmann apparently re-jigged their track specs

With Wolfgang Dudler's permission, I've posted his fine Westport
Terminal RR on the TrainPlayer site, all tracked and ready to run.  You
can download a copy of TrainPlayer, download the layout, add some

"Practical Electronics For Railway Modellers" - Roger Amos, hardback,157
pages.
1982 edition ... due to age it is a *little obsolete* in places but
nevertheless an interesting little book with plenty of stuff that remains
Return loop22 Mar 2005 20:47 GMT5
On my layout I built a couple of return loops so that I can reverse the
direction of the loco on the ovals.  One end of the loop is connected to
the turnout leading from the oval and the other end is isolated
(insulated) from it's turnout.  What happens is that the loco stops

I'm not new to model railroading, but am new to starting from scratch..
can someone explain to me (for n scale) what the difference is between

The track is in and debugged!22 Mar 2005 20:04 GMT2
Finally, my little Atlas RS1 Switcher goes through the entire spaghetti

is the traditional ground throw. The other is a high level switch stand
with a rotating target showing the switch position. The latter looks
better, and gives the operator some visual indication of the switch

Guys,
I'd like to hear your thoughts on finishing the area over layout. How
did you hide your lighting from direct view?
Here is my situation. The layout is under construction in a 12 x18 room

Best train books?22 Mar 2005 07:59 GMT13
What do you think are the best books about full size trains (not
models)? I have "The Great Book of Trains" by Brian Hollingsworth and
Arthur Cook. I think it's very good. It has illustrations, photos, and
plenty of information about 310 locomotives. Only drawback is I wish it
Fastening track22 Mar 2005 05:03 GMT6
Yesterday, Sat, "down at the club", I finally was able to put in place my
two scratch built bridges on the new HO layout.
Was wondering how to fasten the track to the deck. Use of an adhesive seemed
the way to go, but would an adhesive stick to the "slippery plastic" of the
