Is there any prototypical reason why one road would lash up with another
road in a single consist? Or would this only happen after the two roads
merged and one of the engines hadn't been repainted yet?

As a kid, I always said to myself that some day I was going to have a grand
model railroad set when I "grew up".  Well, I haven't really grown up, but I
am older now and I want to jump into the great hobby of model railroading.

Does anyone know of a source for fonts used in lettering road names for
the various roads over the years?
I want to do some custom lettering but need to find a source for a
specific font.

Can anyone tell me what prototype these are supposedly based on?

I've just started in HO after a long hiatus.  What are people's
