DCC sound + Lenz Compact19 Apr 2005 16:23 GMT2
I have been considering buying either a US or European model with a
DCC sound decoder already fitted, just so that I can 'have a play'.
Will I be able to fully operate one with a Lenz compact, which I
believe only gives me access to F0-F4?
motorising the City of Truro?19 Apr 2005 13:36 GMT7
Apparently the July 1965 (VOL6-No.11) Airfix magazine contains an article on
motorising the City of Truro and I was wondering/hoping someone out there
may have that copy and could scan and email it to me.....alternatively
someone may have done the conversion and could email em ...
Plate girder bridges19 Apr 2005 12:47 GMT8
I've been perusing my collection of books trying to find an example of a
plate girder or metal span bridge carrying a road over a railway. Every
example I've found has the railway on the bridge.
Were they ever used in the way I'm looking for?

Second: Did SP ever have any observation cars with the open end platform in
Daylight colors?

Softening temperature of polystyrene18 Apr 2005 15:52 GMT5
Does anyone know at what temperature polystyrene starts to soften up enough
to slightly change its shape?  I have a building base that is warped.  I'd
like to heat it to the point where it begins to soften just a little, then
flatten it out and let it cool.
Hattons pricing18 Apr 2005 15:42 GMT78
I know this may have been discussed before, but it is now getting very
extreme.
The Standard 5MT is available at £59.00 for 73030, £64.00 for 73068,

painting the baseboard/benchwork18 Apr 2005 13:39 GMT12
Still hard at  the baseboard construction, and wanted to ask, is it
wise/unwise to paint your benchwork  or leave them all natural?  I
thought it may give the wood some protection, and also for the visual
aspect.

I have one section of track, specifically a closed loop trolley track that
is to be purely automated.  The trolley cars will NOT have DCC decoders,
they will be straight DC with live overhead wires.  They will be

MR Train Show listing change18 Apr 2005 05:45 GMT2
The group I belong to was told by someone within the advertizing
department at Model Railroader that the editor is considering removing
the "free" train show and activity listings in the magazine. While it is
possible that we were told this just to get us to buy a paid ad for our ...
1924 Alton Limited paint scheme18 Apr 2005 02:45 GMT2
Can anyone confirm the colors of the C&A Alco Pacifcs used on the 1924
edition of the Chicago - St. Louis "Alton Limited"?  Dubin states the cars
were maroon with red doors and red window posts, aluminum roofs and black
underbodies.  I seem to recall a color picture of the train ...
