I have been considering buying either a US or European model with a DCC sound decoder already fitted, just so that I can 'have a play'. Will I be able to fully operate one with a Lenz compact, which I believe only gives me access to F0-F4?

I've been perusing my collection of books trying to find an example of a plate girder or metal span bridge carrying a road over a railway. Every example I've found has the railway on the bridge. Were they ever used in the way I'm looking for?

Does anyone know at what temperature polystyrene starts to soften up enough to slightly change its shape? I have a building base that is warped. I'd like to heat it to the point where it begins to soften just a little, then flatten it out and let it cool.

Still hard at the baseboard construction, and wanted to ask, is it wise/unwise to paint your benchwork or leave them all natural? I thought it may give the wood some protection, and also for the visual aspect.
