HOn3: Have I missed out? MDC #474?27 Jun 2005 20:01 GMT4
I'm interested in devoting a spare bedroom to an HOn3
layout. A long time ago I built a HOn3 2-8-0 from MDC.
It was the outside frame version. I'd like to get my hands
on one again but I can't find any. What happened to MDC?
BLI SD4027 Jun 2005 00:34 GMT2
I just got a BLI SD40, and while I had read some negative things about
them, I don't recall this:
The chime sounds distorted, like clipping occuring somewhere along the
line.  I eliminated a buzzing shell as a cause, and BLI service said

I'm someone who mostly works with styrene kits. These days real space
and SF ships.
The reason I'm posting here is that I don't have much knowledge
regarding electronics, especially when it comes to mucking about with

Bachmann WD 2-8-0 : Tender fire-iron rack25 Jun 2005 15:27 GMT5
When the Bachmann WD was first introduced, I recall reading reviews of
an etched tender fire-iron rack which was being produced by one of the
after-market suppliers.
Now that I am acquiring a WD, can I find the supplier's contact
New Bachmann Ivatt 2-6-0?25 Jun 2005 11:43 GMT19
There's a picture of a Class 2 2-6-0 plus tender in the article about the
Severn Trent Valley Railway in the latest club magazine. That might be a
clue that Bachmann is about to start work on one their own? There's also a
picture of a "K4" whatever that might be?
Helix question25 Jun 2005 06:04 GMT17
I want to create a two track helix of 26" and 28" radius.
I seem to remember reading an article/hint about cutting straight boards in
such a way that they would create the spiral for a helix. My questions are:
does anyone else remember it and where was it so I can look it up?

LGB 5012 Outdoor "Hut" Throttle: Help Please24 Jun 2005 22:07 GMT3
Have searched the group and cannot find anything on this.  Apologies if
this is a duplicate thread.
I have recently bought a 2nd hand 5012 throttle.  I can't work out if I am
doing something wrong or it is faulty.

Rock Island, Maytag & the Chinese24 Jun 2005 08:00 GMT4
Today I saw that a company from China is making a bid for the American oil
and gas company Unocal. But even more interesting was the note that in
addition to a Chinese outfit going after IBM's PC business an investment
group headed by a Chinese firm was in the process of purchasing ...

The German site "All American Trains" (which is usually correct in general,
but not in particulars) has posted two new Athearn Genesis locos: SD45-2 and
MP15AC!
