Rivarossi N-scale Big Boy repair help23 Jun 2005 20:37 GMT7
My local hobby shop sometimes asks for me to help on repairs that have them
stumped, and as a retired electrical engineer/nuclear submariner/hack
machinist, I've usually been able to help.  Last weekend, they asked me if I
would tackle a Rivarossi N-scale Big Boy that is ...

Modeling Tip Question: Text 'carved' into stone.23 Jun 2005 18:53 GMT11
I was wondering if anyone has tips on the best way to model something
like the text across the lintel of a masonry building that is carved
(or cast) in the stone or concrete (typical for things like courthouses
or libraries and the like).  I'm working in H0 and would like to do
www.model-auctions.com23 Jun 2005 17:54 GMT10
Today I received an email, ostensibly from Hornby. Not an unusual thing,
I am on their mailing list. This is about a model auction site, and just
as I was about to click the link, I noticed that the address in the
bottom toolbar was actually an ip address, rather than a name - ...

Points, rodding, signals, cables, ground frames and boxes ???22 Jun 2005 22:53 GMT28
Why try six posts when one will do ;-)
Back in the days when men were men and engines were black with "Lancashire
and Yorkshire" (Or at a pinch Great Western) painted on the side signalling
took a lot of pulling and pushing does anyone know (pretty please) ...
More massive urban stuff -- 'Library Lions'22 Jun 2005 21:33 GMT3
Does anyone know where I could get a couple of H0 scale (scale not too
critical) 'Library Lions' -- the large statures of lions that are often
placed by the entrance of large civic buildings (like libraries)?  All
the Walther's has are circus lions, with might be appropriate if I ...
P4 conversion for Lima class 8722 Jun 2005 20:14 GMT1
I have a Lima class 87 that I want to be able to convert to P4 gauge.  I
know about the Ultrascale conversion for this loco, but I want to be
able to use Steel tyred wheelsets and they are Brass/NS only.
I have found that Sharman do wheelsets for this loco, but I do not know
Curling Anyone?21 Jun 2005 23:19 GMT10
Hi again all
I have just received two very early Triang Pullman coaches and upon
disassembling them noticed that the clear inserts have curled badly - I
don't just want to hit them with a heat gun or hair dryer so before asking
resource sharing between trains21 Jun 2005 23:02 GMT7

N Bachmann 4-8-4 loco problems21 Jun 2005 20:21 GMT7
The loco that came with my Empire Builder set quickly developed problems
with not running smoothly, i.e.: it goes aroung the track with very
jerky motions. No literature came with the set regarding maintenance,
etc. Which are the drive wheels, which are the pickup wheels, and how ...

I recently told a friend that when I see  pictures of the 4-8-8-4, Big

my poor little heart races! He said  that there must be something wrong
with me in the brain department. The Big Boy is just plain Magnificent,
