Helijan O Gauge30 Sep 2005 16:16 GMT34
Is anyone here shocked at the price being asked for the new O gauge
Hymek? £475 each puts me off starting in O Gauge - I'd much rather try
my hand at a cheap loco kit and hope its not too difficult! I find it
interesting that Bachmann can do O gauge american outline diesels for
Red Jinty: What price now?30 Sep 2005 12:10 GMT39
Bachmann have just announced a second batch of 500 Jintys in preservation
livery, albeit with a different running number (16440) to the first batch
(47357). I'm thinking that will seriously detract from the value of the
first batch, some of which are yet to be sold.

Finescale vs standard OO track ?30 Sep 2005 11:59 GMT7
Do the folks on this group consider that it is worth the extra expense
of adopting Peco Finescale for a large layout about to be started, or
just stick with regular OO track ? Fleet of locos is modern Bachmann,
Heljan + Hornby diesels, i.e no 'large' wheel flanges etc. Is

Future Exhibition Venues in Fareham, Hants29 Sep 2005 22:52 GMT2
Just to pick up a slightly OT spur to the debate about Helijan Hymeks, a
couple of alternative venues were suggested.
Victory Hall, Warsash.  Colin, I went down and had a look, nice hall, pity
we can't have one like that in the town itself.  The problem is that we know
Hobby  shops / train shops in Akron OH area29 Sep 2005 16:47 GMT3
I may have asked this once before, but I don't remember getting an answer.
Where are the good train shops in the Akron, OH, area?   I'm interested in
HO scale.  My daughter is a sophomore at Kent State and it would be nice to
visit a train shop when we are visiting with her.  I ...
how to repair "vinyl" handrails?29 Sep 2005 07:56 GMT10
I have an HO Atlas GP-40 that has a set of those soft handrails -- they
feel like vinyl or something...not sure. The handrails are broken in a
couple of places. Can someone suggest the best method or adhesive to
repair?

Hornby Clerestory Coaches (Triang too)28 Sep 2005 23:33 GMT8
Just wondering if someone out there knows the story of the life of these
lovely little models?
I have bought several over time - all through eBay - and find it difficult
to work out which I am actually going to receive. What I mean is: It looks
The LNER Encyclopedia has moved!28 Sep 2005 22:13 GMT1
Yes my LNER pages have moved from the winwaed.com domain to their new
home at:

(a few other domains work but that one is the shortest to type!)

Did the Southern Pacific have specific freight train assignments for this

Might someone know what engine(s) pulled the SP "Overnight Express"?
Seeks ideas/opinions on Fascia switches & graphics28 Sep 2005 12:55 GMT20
Looking for ideas and opinions. I'm getting close to putting up a fascia
on my railroad for a major classification yard. I've been thinking about
the user interface. I'm assuming I'd want a track diagram of some sort,
some toggles and/or pushbuttons to control turnouts and some ...
