| Help - adding tender pickups to Athearn Genesis 2-8-2 | 11 Dec 2005 21:18 GMT | 8 |
Hi, I have an Athearn Genesis 2-8-2 that I'm going to be replacing the cheapo-bargain sound decoder with one of the new Tsunamis. While I'm doing that, I'd like to add some way to pick up electrical contact in the tender (this engine likes to stall in switches).

| Bachmann Fairburn 2-6-4T Photo | 11 Dec 2005 20:49 GMT | 14 |
There is now a photo of the Fairburn 2-6-4T on the Bachman website http://www.bachmann.co.uk It depicts 42073 (with later crest despite the website description) which I think is a preserved example - Lakeside & Haverthwaite?

| 10 Model Railroading Dont's | 10 Dec 2005 16:52 GMT | 10 |
These have been mentioned before in various posts but I thought maybe a new person or two might benefit from past experience. Bruce 1. Don't ever put your soldering iron down on anyplace you might sit. 2. Don't ever think that hard to reach track work will not be a problem.

| About track | 10 Dec 2005 04:08 GMT | 18 |
I want to get into HO railroading. After googling I see that code 83 is more photorealistic than code 100 although it's a bit pricier. What about flex track. Does it come in a selection of codes? Can you get flextrack that can be clipped together the way sectional does. A

| HST IC125 couplers when failed? | 09 Dec 2005 22:21 GMT | 22 |
Okay the square hatch on the underside of the HST front contained the coupler - If an HST failed something would have to be sent out to assist - as it has no buffers it could not use a simple screw link coupler - Did thay carry some kind of rigid bar coupler or did they

| Hattons and Ehattons - Whats the difference? | 09 Dec 2005 21:51 GMT | 14 |
I realise that this is possibly a stupid question for me to be asking, but I am going to ask it just the same. I have heard here (and elsewhere) about the Hatton's website and as its the time of year when my wife asks me what I want for my birthday I thought I

| Looking for beginner HO track plans | 09 Dec 2005 19:59 GMT | 7 |
Can anyone recommend a good resource for HO track plans in a 4'x8' area? I'm using Kato Unitrack, if that matters. I want my first layout to be interesting but not overly complicated. Thanks,

Enlargeable photo's of green 92220 and black 92192 now added to the bottom of Bachmann's home page (http://www.bachmann.co.uk/). Apparently "due to arrive in the new year", they look very appealing at first sight! Cheers,

| January Edition Of Model Rail | 09 Dec 2005 18:13 GMT | 34 |
I Don't know how many of you take the Model Rail Magazine, but if you have seen it, what do you think of the Paper used on the January Edition. I've already complained to Chris Leigh about it, and apparently he's not happy about it, but was told by the powers that be to lump it.

| Automobile Paints | 09 Dec 2005 05:40 GMT | 12 |
A friend of mine suggested using automobile paints (acrylic) for weathering rail, rolling stock, and any other paint application where an exact color match is not necessary. There are a huge number of colors available in automobile paints. He claims that the "micro
