Gantry Crane09 Dec 2005 03:50 GMT4
Somewhere on my web travels in the last year I came across a site,
possibly from a model manufacturer, with pictures of an HO-scale model
gantry crane, quite probably made in brass.
Now of course I'm looking for it again but I can't find it (no wonder
Steam loco scrap list09 Dec 2005 01:01 GMT9
I found a website once with a list of when steam locos went to be scrapped
but appear to have lost the link. Does anyone have it, so I can decide what
stock would be 'realistic' for my layout please.
Recent advert for nameplates08 Dec 2005 20:25 GMT2
I'm sure in the last few editions of one of the UK model mags I have
seen an advert for custom name plates to order for a delivery in Feb ?
Anyone got a copy or can assist? I fancy one for one of my little locos that
should be called "Brightside" but isn't
Myth #34,723: "plastic-compatible" lubrication08 Dec 2005 18:28 GMT28
Folks, I'm here to bust another of those persistent myths that linger
around the world of model railroading. Today's target:
"plastic-compatible oil". I've heard this said enough around here
recently that this myth deserves to be put to rest, again.

Ladies & Gentlemen,
I am looking for an old Atlas / Rivarossi 4-6-2 pacific. Tender doesnt
matter, boiler doesnt matter, running or not doesnt matter. All i

Polish steam08 Dec 2005 08:21 GMT2
Does anyone know if a Polish steam 2-6-2 or 2-8-0 are available in ho
gauge. Failing that I hope the models are available in some form -
maybe German.
Thanks very much
RFI - Painting CN Geeps08 Dec 2005 07:26 GMT12
As I mentioned before, I have these old N-scale Kato GP-9's with the
fake frames.  Now that I know JnJ has a correction kit, I'm thinking
maybe it's better to upgrade than trade them in. (I don't think EMD will
give me much)
Modelstrip on Grafar loco's08 Dec 2005 02:15 GMT2
Hi folks, thought I'd draw on collective experience...
Has anyone used Modelstrip successfully on a Farish diesel loco? I've
got a couple (a 31 & a 37 as new) which I plan to repaint.
Nobody likes melted loco's...

Heljan class 47, is it really over width?07 Dec 2005 22:28 GMT27
I was talking to one fo the reps on the Heljan stand at Warley last
saturday, and they had their new class 33's on the stand.  I ased him if
Heljan had managed to make these the correct width this time, when he
retored indiegnantly that it was the famous review in Model Rail that ...
Thomas the Tank Engine: is too O gauge07 Dec 2005 21:31 GMT5
Since I was the one who brought up the _Model Railroader_ article about
Thomas, which says that the show uses specially modified Märklin O-scale
locos, and since this has been disputed, I went ahead and asked the
proverbial horse's mouth. I just received an email reply to my ...
Dirty Track Problem07 Dec 2005 20:31 GMT1
Guys,
I recently put up a loop of track under the tree that came with the On30 set
I bought about five years ago. I clean the track with MAAS as I do each
year. Never any problems. After a few days I decided to give the On30 train
Curved Tressle Bridge07 Dec 2005 19:52 GMT1
I am in the process of scratch building a curved tressle bridge from
wood strips that I made using a ban saw. However, I misplaced the
images that I was using as references. I was hoping that one of you may
know a link to a layout image of a curved tressle bridge that I could
Any Other Secret Thomas the Tank Engine Fans?07 Dec 2005 18:56 GMT53
I have to admit that I'm watching this show regularly, at age 42.
Don't know about you, but any rail image halts my flipping through the
channels, so the first time it was a reflex.  However, I was so
impressed with the scenery and the quality of the setting, I got
