Chasing an N2 Mainline body07 Dec 2005 18:46 GMT3
Just received a bunch of stuff in the mail. One item: A "new" Mainline N2
loco (bought as a graveyard lot) arrived and it has been cooked
somehow...... one entire side is bent and distorted as if it's been hit with
a heat lamp or similar. Anyway, I obviously need another body ...
Best since sliced bread?07 Dec 2005 18:31 GMT3
Looking at the new Bachmann 57 from a DCC point of view, I notice it now has
it's own pocket on top of the chassis for taking a chip about the size of a
Lenz Gold series, has working lights (at last) NEM coupling boxes, good
detail (I'm not aware of any errors yet!) and even ...
New to the Hobbie07 Dec 2005 16:06 GMT3
Well, you will find my postings on reef aquariums, slotcars and now i've
done it-jumped into the biggest hobbie that will never end...  O scale
trains.  Just purchased a Lionel-Santa Fe Fast Track and I'm new to the
hoddie so where can I find about?
But WHY do plastic wheels collect more crud??07 Dec 2005 15:37 GMT55
Some say the plastic wheels, being non-conductive, develop more low
level static discharge and therefore attract the dirt. We've heard
people say that metal wheels cut down on crud a lot. Some of my RR has
metal wheels but many cars do not because they are not really worth

Sorry All, Post should have read, What is your favourite MODEL locomotive? and why?07 Dec 2005 05:09 GMT26
My apologies to all who replied to my previous question, and whilst being
very interested in the answers I really meant "Which is your favourite model
locomotive and why"?
I realise that it was the way that I phrased the question that led to the
What's your favourite locomotive? and why?07 Dec 2005 04:52 GMT24
Interested in others tastes in locomotives and what "floats their boat" and
why.
Is it the detail, the running, a memory or memories or something else
entirely?
Railmodeller 2.3 for the Mac...06 Dec 2005 22:59 GMT5
Railmodeller 2.3 track planning/designing software for the Mac computer
has anyone tried it?  Would they recommend it?  And is the $30 upgrad
form shareware to registered worth it?
Your thoughts much appreciated
Engraved Nameplates06 Dec 2005 18:48 GMT2
It is often mentioned in the forum that printed nameplates on new 'OO'
locos are often found to be 'oversize' when fitting engraved versions.
Whilst this is certainly true, I would contend that many engraved
plates from the popular manufacturers seem to be appreciably
A Model Railway Museum?06 Dec 2005 17:09 GMT11
Not a museum for model trains, but a model of a real railroad museum.
I got this idea a few years back from an MR article on moving the V&O
forward in time, one step which involved removing the turntable and
replacing it with diesel facilities.
Class 71 pantograph - Which type fitted?06 Dec 2005 11:49 GMT16
Anyone know if the Class 71s had either the double-diamond or arm and
elbow type pantograph (or did they start with the diamond type and
change later?)

FA: British, US and European Rail videos for sale on eBay06 Dec 2005 06:13 GMT1
For sale by auction on eBay: 'as new' VHS videos of railway subjects.
Most have only been watched once, some were never watched at all.  An
impending house move means I have to reduce the size of my collection.
There should be something for almost everyone, from general enthusiast
MDC?06 Dec 2005 05:06 GMT3
Don't hang out on Usenet much anymore, but yuo folks are my best shot: is
MDC still in business? I was looking at this year's Walthers catalog, and
realized that I didn't see it mentioned. Then I just went out on the Web,
and found somebody linking to them, and the link was dead.
So, what are we hoping to see under the Christmas tree, then?06 Dec 2005 01:47 GMT31
I'm hoping for a Hornby Class 110 and maybe that rather fine looking
new loco-drive A3.  What will you be asking Santa for?

Steam Loco Data06 Dec 2005 01:46 GMT7
Is there anywhere online where I can get running data on GWR locomotives?
I'm about to buy some decoders to fit to my n gauge steam locos and would
like to set realistic running values into the CVs. At the moment I have some
kings, halls and a PD Marsh kit for a 9300 class as ...
