| Rod Placement on Drivers | 03 Dec 2005 02:32 GMT | 9 |
Here is one more question. I am trying to restore to operation a Minitrix 4-6-2 K4 Pacific. I have the motor running like a top, but the drivers are binding. I believe that at least one set of rods was removed and then reattached 25 years

| DRS class 20 | 03 Dec 2005 00:09 GMT | 4 |
I want a class 20 in DRS livery, circa 2002+. I presume the later Bachmann models will make a good base. Pots of DRS blue paint are out there I am sure, as most of the bits (light clusters) are probably available from Howes?

| Signal box steps | 02 Dec 2005 23:27 GMT | 10 |
Might be a silly question this but I read somewhere that the steps for signal boxes usually lead up to the box from the station side ... that is if a person was climbing the steps his back would be to any approaching train ... having said that I've been looking at a lot of pics ...

| Walthers Turntable + electricity | 02 Dec 2005 21:25 GMT | 2 |
I have the new Walthers turntable on my extended, 'to get list'. In advance of this purchase, I wanted to be prepared to power it. Does the turntable plug into the wall [have its own DC transformer]? If not, what do I need to also purchase?

| Another Scratchbuilding Idea. Windows! | 02 Dec 2005 12:08 GMT | 12 |
I was working on these model tugboats last night, looking for a way to do the bridge windows without having to add interior detail. Aside: I'm always on the lookout for stuff in toy stores, junk shops and yard sales. In this case I found two great little wind-up tug

| Maintaining your engines | 02 Dec 2005 05:15 GMT | 4 |
In a continuing effort to gain more knowledge about this hobby, and based on a comment in the "Top 10" post, I have some more questions: 1) When purchasing a new engine (diesel or steam), what prep work is necessary right out of the box before running it? Does it need to be

| AC - Modeling the Black Bear Route | 01 Dec 2005 22:10 GMT | 14 |
Hello all! First post to this group. After years of aimless poking about, I've decided to get serious and model an actual railway. Since I want a good amount of scenery with long track runs, high trestles and a couple of ships, and since I don't

| A tele of two decoders | 01 Dec 2005 20:06 GMT | 25 |
One of my long standing customers part-exchanged an fairly uncommon loco yesterday. The model in question was a Tech-Cad Design BTH class 15 Bo-Bo diesel, and it came fitted with a Digitrax DH140 decoder. Well the thing was virtually uncontrollable with a 0-60 which would have ...

Hi there, i have just bought a hornby blue class 08 and have been running it in for about half an hour, it was fine at first but now has started making a very loud squeaking as if it was running dry. I have lubed it up to see if it made a difference but it is still squeaking it ...

| Where do you have your layout? | 01 Dec 2005 18:22 GMT | 49 |
Just curious, where does everybody have their layout? Basement, garage, living room, club, where? I used to have one in the basement but ultimately I decided it was too dusty down there so I took it down. I'm thinking of putting up another one in a spare bedroom I have. If

| Failed Thunderbird | 01 Dec 2005 09:45 GMT | 4 |
My Freightliner and thunderbird 57,s were on running in duty tonight. While the freightliner performed superbly and managed an 18 wagon (empty) Bachmann intermodal train with ease, the Thunderbird developed a faulty bogie / wheel problem. Worse one direction than the other, a ...
