Conflicting Wiring Advice28 Dec 2005 14:09 GMT19
A number of people have recommended 12 guage stranded wire for my main power
bus with 18-22 feeder wires coming off of that.  They all run Digitrax DCC
and I'm the oddball who uses an Atlas Commander DCC system.  The Atlas
Commander manual recommends using 18-20 guage wire to ...
Another track plan online27 Dec 2005 20:44 GMT4
Done another track plan for my layout.
It's no a final draft, more of a "what I'd like to achieve" kind of track plan.
I'm already working on the next one!

trains and ship stories in today's Washington Post27 Dec 2005 15:41 GMT2
The below article on toy trains appeared in the Washington Post,
accompanied by 7 color photographs that aren't on the web page. See

Also on the same page of the paper, appealing to the same ...
G scale garden railroad?27 Dec 2005 15:23 GMT3
First off, I'm new here so hello to the newsgroup!
I recently acquired a nifty Buddy L "limited edition" G scale set which
I would like to use as the beginnings of a garden railroad. I have a
few questions about this...
Lionel "O" Series: Glacier Route: NEED HELP27 Dec 2005 13:04 GMT2
I now have TWO sets of the Lionel Train Glacier Route that I can't get
to work.  It is an O track (Fastrack?)
My daughter got one for Christmas last year.  It worked haltingly, then
quit working altogether.  It sat all year, and she got it out this
Is it okay to post for sale ads?27 Dec 2005 04:17 GMT2
I have many HO scale model railroad items in Minnesota I'd like to
sell.  Is it okay to post a detailed list of the items here?
Thanks.

OO scale minimum radii27 Dec 2005 03:39 GMT9
have just re-read a note  suggesting that 6 ft is a reasonable minimum
radius to aim for.
I have a 7m x 4m room all to myself and cannot contemplate anything
larger than 1 m radius without running out of space.
Scale buildings27 Dec 2005 02:07 GMT2
Hi to all and Merry Christmas,
What I'm looking for is a good recommendation for a book with plans and
ideas for constructing scale buildings from scratch.
Not to beat my own drum, but I am a moderatly accomplished woodworker and
Hornby class 6026 Dec 2005 23:48 GMT9
Here's what my mate James says about the new Hornby class 60.  I've got to
say I tend to agree - it's a really nice model and shows just what the lads
from Margate can do when they really put their minds to it..

Digital cameras & depth of field (my experience)26 Dec 2005 23:27 GMT19
My $.02:  I've had both a point-and-shoot and a digital SLR.  I'll take the digital SLR hands-down.  My primary reason is that I'm both nearsighted and now getting a bit farsighted, so I depend on the autofocus plus the viewfinder (versus the LCD display) to frame photos.  Your ...
Suitcase Connectors?26 Dec 2005 23:24 GMT17
Following up on an earlier queary, I went to Lowes, Home Depot and Orchard
Supply and asked for suitcase connectors (aka insulation disruption
connectors or IDC) and I got pretty much the same answer at each place....
Huh??.
Merry Christmas!26 Dec 2005 13:43 GMT3
or Happy Holidays (to be politically correct). May your troubles be few and
your trains be plenty. Bruce

Card modelling25 Dec 2005 20:28 GMT5
I've been lurking here whilst the discussions on card modelling were
ongoing.  I'm interested in trying out this hobby.  Can anyone tell me
where I can down-load patterns that would enable me to try out a few
models.  I'm interested in buildings for a double O set-up.
