Help Request05 Jan 2006 13:19 GMT5
Several years ago, a friend of mine built a small sound unit that produced
the sound of an operating mechanical reefer.  It was small enough to fit
inside the car.  The circuit diagram apparently came either from MR or RMC,
probably late 70s or early 80s.  He is trying to find a ...
Hornby Dean Goods - better than Mainline?05 Jan 2006 09:50 GMT7
How deos the quality of the current Hornby rendition of the Dean Goods
compare to the original Airfix/Mainline model? I have one of the originals
which is a poor runner, I am not sure that the gear train is intact, though
I've yet to open it up to examine closely. I appreciate that ...
Timber!05 Jan 2006 07:58 GMT1
Green Cargo Rc1 (the first edition of the huge Rc-series of totally 366
machines, delivered from the late 60's to late 80's) number 1014 has
putted together the train and is now waiting for the logs to be loaded
before it's time to go south.

TrainOrama happenings ..... Box van wise!04 Jan 2006 23:47 GMT1
Stocks of the VLX/VLCX/LX/ALGX/ALGY box vans from TrainOrama should be
arriving at the West Ryde shop tomorrow (Wednesday), which will make them
available over the counter on Thursday. Modellers contemplating purchasing
one of every pack will be welcomed with open arms. :-)
Peco Streamline geometry04 Jan 2006 23:15 GMT6
I know that the standard Streamline track spacing is achieved by
joining the diverging tracks of two points of the same hand together.
I had assumed that the same spacing would also be achieved if the toe
of a left-hand point was connected directly to the diverging track of

Happy New Year to anyone who's daft enough to be at their computer right
now, or at anytime in the next 5½ hours - or even after that!

JMT battery replacement question04 Jan 2006 20:48 GMT1
I have one of the JMT diesel engines, the Alco PA diesel AA, in Santa Fe
colors, with a version of the Proto sound system.  The system is capable
of sounding station announcements, horn, etc. Apparently the battery is
down and should be replaced, and I understand that a Radio ...
Hornby Class 4704 Jan 2006 20:42 GMT6
Bought an old class 47 cheap on ebay, runs ok and has cab lighting (bit
strange) front and back at same time. Does anyone have a wiring diagram as
it does not seem to make much sense to me?
Would like to fit a Dcc decoder to both the motor and the lights, but it

Hornby's new Stanier coaches.04 Jan 2006 17:31 GMT57
At long last I've managed to get my hands on one or two of the new Hornby
ex-LMS Stanier coaches which are that manufacturer's latest flagship attempt
at passenger rolling stock.
I thought you were a diesel modeller, I hear echoing around?  Well I'm a
More Hornby 200604 Jan 2006 15:43 GMT52
Hornby promised that their site would be updated minutes after midnight with
their new range... And to save people having to visit, I can tell you all
that the big announcement, as of 00:24, is...

More EMU stuff04 Jan 2006 15:42 GMT3
Ok, so given that Hornby and Bachman are not going to bring out an EMU
anytime soon, what do you fellas think is the best kits out there? I just
ordered one from DC Kits, am I in for a surprise?
I'm not a bad modeler, but I never built a loco kit before!
Q1 Mechanical Lubricators04 Jan 2006 09:29 GMT1
Having just offered comment on the Hornby Class 47 thread about Hornby
service sheets I thought I would ask the question about the service sheet I
have just downloaded.
The mechanical lubricator linkage on my Q1 has come adrift at the top end.
