| Constant jet of steam from little pipe. | 30 Jan 2006 10:09 GMT | 26 |
I posted this question to alt.railroad.steam:
>I was viewing some video of a Northern 4-8-4 charging up a grade when I noticed a steady jet of steam escaping from a pipe right in front of the stack. I know that the generator is right in front of the cab, so

| Kato GP-9 vs Atlas GP-7 (N) which is more accurate? | 30 Jan 2006 09:39 GMT | 2 |
I just noticed this the other day. When I put an original N-scale Kato GP9 (circa 1990) alongside a newer Atlas GP7, the GP9 measures 2 ft longer. Most of the difference is in the long hood, but the short hood is slightly longer as well.

We put the trains away in the early 90's, and now that the boys are off to college, they developed a renewed interest in them. So I started looking around online, visiting a few hobby shops (those that are left, that is...), and it seems that the Lionel / K-Line / MTH /

| Wood structure kits: sealing & painting | 29 Jan 2006 21:39 GMT | 12 |
The 2nd volume of the new video series from MR shows a segment on putting together a laser-cut wood structure kit. The first step they show is to spray the sheets of parts with a wood sealer to prevent moisture from warping the wood. This seems very sensible. The question

| Covering Foam ? | 29 Jan 2006 20:35 GMT | 1 |
I wanted to get opinions on covering foam. Do folks recommend using sculptamold to cover the foam or just shape, paint and go ? I've seen both. I have a large mountain and I am considering using sculptamold with the rubber molds for rock formations in certain areas and leaving

| Coronation coaches | 29 Jan 2006 10:32 GMT | 4 |
Could SKS email me a picture - in colour?- of one of the Coronation coaches. I have some of Mailcoach's offerings and the painting advice is, to my mind, a little thin. Which green/grey is used in the interior? And where is the stainless steel trim? Just around the
