freight car routing27 Jan 2006 05:23 GMT3
I have a small layout that I have been working on for awhile now, and I
would like to experiment with car routing procedures. I have heard of
the car card routing system but I don't know much about it or seen it
work in action. Is there a good web site that describes different

Trowell Junction and station27 Jan 2006 00:09 GMT2
The current layout of Trowell junction is that it is 4 lines (2 fast, 2
freight), with two tracks diverging northeastwards from both lines (if you
see what I mean).
There used to be a Trowell Station - does anyone know if the station had

I have built two layouts recently.
One is the section of track between Penrith and Blencow on the old

The other is Keswick junction just south of Penrith.
Stirling locomotives?26 Jan 2006 20:50 GMT1
I know that some modelers have built stirling engine (hot air powered-
not steam) locomotives, and it suddenly occurred to me that back in
the early days of steam that someone may have designed and used a
stirling powered locomotive to avoid the dangers of the boiler and
Happy birthday to me.26 Jan 2006 18:39 GMT11
Reached my 48th year today (me now being 47) and apart from some Plymouth
Argyle bits and bobs and two books "Railway Operation for the Modeller" and
"Steam Around Plymouth" I received £200.
Suggestions on how to spend it please (no beer or food as I'm on a diet), No
MDF or PLYWOOD26 Jan 2006 16:30 GMT33
After the adverse comments I have received about the insulation board used
in my baseboard construction, I have decided to replace the insulation board
currently fitted with another medium.
I have decided to do it now rather than wait until I have finished

Anyone have access to the schematic diagram for the Bachmann Spectrum
4-6-0 tender
non-DCC circuit board that ships with the unit?  I was curious about
the purpose of the components.

MDC Roundhouse Products.  Do they still exist?25 Jan 2006 22:21 GMT7
I have an HO scaled MDC Roundhouse Alco RS3 which I bought back in 1992.
Now, I am in search of parts for this thing, specifically all the
handrail parts.
I am about to write to the company, but I don't even know if they exist
Kato Warranty Failures25 Jan 2006 17:40 GMT16
I just wanted to see if anyone else is seeing the issues with Kato that
I am.  I recently purchased the N-Scale F40PH engines with the new
superliner cars.  One ot the engines runs horribly and sounds like a
buzz saw.  I have sent it back twice to Kato, and they always return it
Info about Flying Scotsman - coaches (N gauge)25 Jan 2006 17:09 GMT11
I just bought myself a MiniTrix "Flying Scotsman". Now comes the
question of what coaches I can get in N gauge to go with it! I'm not
interested in Graham Farish, as I use the scale 1:160. The teak coaches
seems to be impossible to find, has it had any others? Please guide me
Glueing Plastic.25 Jan 2006 14:57 GMT10
I would like to glue some plastic, that type that is used in Bachmann
tension lock couplings.
I have 2 Bachmann Standard 4MTs and 1 Standard 5MT and they all have a
different height rear NEM coupling box to those at the front.
Single or Double Slip25 Jan 2006 06:45 GMT3
Curious about the differences between a single or double slip. I have had a
look in the latest Peco catalogue and both look very similar with a few
subtle changes of the check rails.
Could someone please explain to me in easy to understand terms the
Comfort breaks at exhibitions25 Jan 2006 01:24 GMT5
So what does a one man band do when he/she needs to leave the stand for
a "comfort break"? As a potential trader this question is troubling me.
I guess the obvious answer is to get the adjoining stand to cover, does
that happen?
