Midland Region - use of 4 tracks22 Jan 2006 13:54 GMT12
Can anyone please answer the following please:
The London Midland Region often had 4-track mainlines, with "fast" on one
side and slow on the other (rather than slow lines flanking either side of
the fast lines, as in the ex-LNER region).

6-axle repower21 Jan 2006 23:26 GMT3
I have an older Bachman 6-axle locomotive that has all-wheel pickup, but
driven by a single power truck.  Unfortunately, the motor is dead.  Has
anyone done a remotor on one of these?

Repower Overland Models21 Jan 2006 22:06 GMT1
I have thought about replacing the motors in my Overland Models engines,
as one or two of the motors don't do well on DCC.  They lack low speed
control.
I presume someone has already done it, and it would be interesting to
Worsley Works21 Jan 2006 21:58 GMT14
I am thinking of purchasing an 'etches only' kit from the above
manufacturer , as was wondering if anyone here has any experience with
these that they might like to share.
Maskelyne21 Jan 2006 20:16 GMT1
What was the relationship between the Maskelyne who edited the 'Model
Railway News' in the post war years (and did some fine scale drawings
of locomotives) and the Jasper Maskelyne sometimes known as the 'War
Magician'?
Blackham Transfers21 Jan 2006 19:47 GMT3

ex-LMS 4P loco21 Jan 2006 19:10 GMT15
I have a Hornby class 4P loco (number 42322), which was allocated in 1960
(according to the Ian Allan "Locoshed Book") to Stockport.
What sort of duties would this engine be performing at around this time -
would it be acceptable to use this on light freight/passenger duties within
Control systems?21 Jan 2006 17:15 GMT20
Could someone give me a brief summary of the pros and cons of the
various methods of providing power and control to model trains? I.E.,
basic transformer vs R/C, DCC, command control and whatever else may be
available.
Hornby Class 3121 Jan 2006 08:49 GMT2
Tonight the Class 31 started stalling on points.
I took power to all the wheels and the bogie under the fan side seems dead,
the other side is fine.
Is this an easy fix before I get dangerous with a screwdriver.
any Ideas on Bachmann Production for 2006?21 Jan 2006 08:05 GMT85
Anyone got any reasonably solid news on what new items Bachmann are likely
to be intending to produce in 2006 (other than catching up on the stuff
missed form 2005 and previous years)?

Turntable/s21 Jan 2006 07:48 GMT8
Now I have decided to replace my baseboards, I will extend the available are
for track and suchlike while I am at it. I am thinking of adding a turntable
into the layout and would like suggestions as to what is suitable.
Previously built a depol turntable kit, but thought it was a ...
Noisy Running (or not).21 Jan 2006 07:37 GMT3
Its me again.
I have replaced the insulation boards on both sides of the layout now with
12mm MDF, I have not yet laid any cork trackbed down yet, and I have not
pinned the track to the MDF as I have yet to mark the points and make holes
