| Best Layout design software | 06 Feb 2006 20:10 GMT | 11 |
At the risk of starting a war, what is the "best"/"best value" layout design software? I've used Atlas "Right Track" and I'm very frustrated with two things: Only atlas track libraries (understandable, but frustrating nonetheless), and Very difficult terrain creation. Winrail

| Peco 00 turntable | 06 Feb 2006 17:05 GMT | 2 |
As you probably know the Peco turntable has a couple of dead-spots on it and when you open the box there's a nice little template that shows you where they are. Well I'm using a salvaged turntable from my old layout and of course the

| Coronation Street | 06 Feb 2006 17:01 GMT | 11 |
Just noted on tonight's episode of Corry that Roy Cropper of the cafe is about to get involved in helping rebuild a large model railway system. Don't know if this will be a good thing or a bad thing for our hobby :-) His screen wife has already come out with the 'playing

| Hobby Black -- Blacken-It | 06 Feb 2006 16:10 GMT | 9 |
Both of these are/were chemical solutions for creating a black finish on a variety of metals, most commonly Brass. Apparently Blacken-It has a finite shelf-life: A not-that-old bottle of it is about as powerful as pure water at changing the color of a piece of

| Airbrushes | 06 Feb 2006 12:48 GMT | 28 |
I've decided to take the plunge and buy an airbrush, but thought I'd ask around and see if anyone has any recommendations or otherwise. I'm after a double-action airbrush (sounds like the better option from what I've

| Time Scales | 06 Feb 2006 10:05 GMT | 90 |
Well after a lot of deliberation I've decided to build my layout in 00. My years are '50 -'57 (roughly when I was actively train spotting) & LNER (Darlington - Redcar). My questions are; When did the BR emblems change from small to large?

| Harbours, Quaysides, Docksides and Wharfs. | 06 Feb 2006 08:55 GMT | 10 |
I am looking for pictures/diagrams of harbourside, docksides, quaysides or wharfs that have a railway facility to get some ideas for the modelling of the branchline aspect of my layout. I have googled and searched the internet but ave found little of any use.

| Veneer strips for O/S scale shingles? | 06 Feb 2006 08:40 GMT | 8 |
I really like the look of veneer shingles, but the cost is prohibitive. I'm planning to do 12" long covered bridges, and I'm looking at $40-50 just in materials for the roof. This is not for a model rr application, this would be a standalone item I'd be selling.

| Brambles | 05 Feb 2006 21:25 GMT | 2 |
Anyone have a good way to model brambles, ferns and similar undergrowth in 4mm. I don't see anything convincing in the woodland scenics range which is what I usually use. Thanks
