COMMERCIAL: Some help appreciated with possible business venture12 Feb 2006 19:08 GMT22
I am considering setting up a small business, specialising in mail-order
of UK outline models to modellers in the Euro-zone countries, as I am
based in Ireland.
In an attempt to gauge the size of the possible market, I am asking for
Propper Coaches12 Feb 2006 14:30 GMT2
I have a Lima model here of "60000 King George V" and I have ben trying to
find an assocciated set of coaches to make a complete train.
So far, from the Bachmann collection i have noted that they have Collett GWR
coaches, which as the loco was designed by Collett I suspect these ...
Chicago railfan group addy wanted12 Feb 2006 06:08 GMT2
Hi all!  I'm working on my layout , planning stage, and am looking for
railfan group(s) for the pre- Amtrak Chicago passenger info that I can
contact. I'm interested in the various stations' approach/departure and
crossings, with an interest on the coach yards and express stations.
More on Weathered Garratts12 Feb 2006 05:03 GMT1
Of course I know I could have ordered an unweathered Garratt. I paid the
extra for weathering, but didnt expect it to be THAT grotty.
I want the sort of "light to medium" weathering I used to see on the
Garratts as they passed through Wyee in the mid to late 50s.
Display Case12 Feb 2006 00:22 GMT3
Anyone know where I can get a decent single locomotive glass display case
from in the UK?
Cheers
Mark
37s on e-bay11 Feb 2006 19:13 GMT3
I would like to bring your attention to 37219 Rail Blue 37035 Dutch these
are advertised as being done by Grantham Models on the Bachmann site on
e-bay. I would like to point out that these models are most definately not
my work. They are being sold by a seller in the south west ...
Hornby Class 58 - any reviews11 Feb 2006 18:09 GMT4
Are there any reviews, online or otherwise, of the Hornby class 58 diesel?
All those I've found are superficial, I really want to know how this thing
compares in dimension and shape. Unbelievably, I've only ever seen one or
two 58s at work, so I can't say I have a good feel for how ...
The Signal Box Rochester Kent11 Feb 2006 00:00 GMT11
Has anyone had dealings with this company?
They sent me the wrong track on an order. Apart from an initial email
response asking whether I had opened the box to check whether the track was
right! I have met a resounding silence, despite several attampts to discover
What has happened to the clubs ???10 Feb 2006 22:45 GMT5
Looking for a model train club around Fairfield - Liverpool area... gone to
lots of web sites, sent lots of emails and have gotten only one reply -
everything else bounces back "undeliverable" and the  irony is that the one
club that does reply doesn't have a club room !  So what am ...
Brass etching10 Feb 2006 19:52 GMT1
I would like to try my hand at etching some fine detail components
that are not available commercially.  I have tried etching copper
PCB's in the past so I am reasonably familiar with the safety aspects
of handling corrosive chemicals.
Phosphor bronze pickups - more10 Feb 2006 17:43 GMT1
Well what do you know?
I asked about phosphor bronze on here yesterday, and I have just discovered
that the company I work from occasionally cuts electrical pickups
from......phosphor-bronze sheet (coil). The thinnest we use is 8 thou, but
Hornby rubbish10 Feb 2006 16:57 GMT7
Last night, the monthly open running night on our 00-Gauge layout. One
of the rare times when taking along one's own locomotives is positively
encouraged. The layout is basically a commercial undertaking and 'own
stock' running at other times is actively discouraged.
Point levers10 Feb 2006 13:52 GMT3
Probably not the correct terminology, but can anybody point (no pun
intended) in the direction of a manufacturer in 4mm of point levers, the
'upright' type, as used in goods yards and locomotive yards. I seem to
recall from my 'spotting', and yes probably 'spotty' days that these ...
Tinplate passing siding circuit.10 Feb 2006 13:40 GMT2
I'm building a tinplate (three-rail) layout with a passing siding.  I'd
like one train to pull in to the passing siding and stop, and then have
the waiting train continue its progress around the loop in an opposing
direction.
Hornby OO Networker problems10 Feb 2006 08:59 GMT6
I have bought a Hornby Class 466 Networker EMU from ebay. The model
arrived, and appeared in good nick, but not perfect.
Well the unit has only one axle which is motorised, and it wheel spins
like crazy when the motor unit is run on its own, but it does go. When
