3801 in grey28 Mar 2006 16:11 GMT55
Is it in the correct shade of grey primer that it was in the 1940s and
does our resident 3801 colour expert agree with this colour scheme?

Kadees for Hornby?28 Mar 2006 15:40 GMT3
Hi again
Just been thinking about different methods for close coupling Hornby
coaches - new Pullmans in particular - and am wondering what folks have been
doing on this score...... is there a Kadee coupler that fits into Hornby's
Liquid Lead / "solidifying" it28 Mar 2006 15:30 GMT5
I've finally managed to get hold of some liquid lead (the little lead
shot stuff). I want to put some into the front smoke box of one of my
loco's, but don't know how to get it to stick.
Any suggestions as to what glue can stick lead to plastic without
ho/oo trackbed ideas28 Mar 2006 05:05 GMT9
I am looking for ideas please on the best way to make trackbed before
ballasing. The layout is going to be wooden crossmembers type
construction followed by 1/4 ply for the track route but I am trying to
come up with something for the trackbed.
Model magazines27 Mar 2006 14:06 GMT31
Having recently come back to the hobby after a gap of ten years or so, am I
alone in finding model railway magazines less useful than they used to be?
OK, there are some nice layout pics, but wouldn't a concentration on compact
layouts be more useful for the majority of today's ...
sparking/electrical problem with Peco points27 Mar 2006 04:22 GMT62
Here's a baffling little problem for us to chew over.  We have had Soberton
out at the TRPS Show in Ferneham Hall yesterday and the fiddle yard was
right at the back of the stage which was dimly lit.  This allowed me to see
the full extent of a problem we have known about for a ...

Half barrier level crossings25 Mar 2006 21:20 GMT4
It seems that the Peco 4mm/ft half-barrier level crossing kit is no
longer available. Does anyone else make one? I don't particularly want
to spend a fortune on a Hornby crossing set to chuck most of it away.
Various foreign ones seem to look, well, foreign. I'm sure there must
Noisy track25 Mar 2006 18:38 GMT36
Now that I am retired I am finally getting around to building a model
railroad that I always wanted to do but could never find the time. I am
doing an N gauge layout because I don't have much space. I have run into
a couple of problems.
Any modellers/Train fans in/near Ipswich QLD?25 Mar 2006 12:50 GMT3
Am trying to get some kind soul to help a mate in the US. Dave needs
drawings or any pics of the Garratt, apparently stored at the Ipswich Rail
Museum. Being in Melbourne I am unable to do this before Christmas when
visiting the folks again so if anyone could help out that would ...
