British Steam DVD/Video series question10 Apr 2006 03:04 GMT2
I note that there was a British Steam series (from newsagents in a 25 disc
series) available some time ago and am wondering if people here have it and
watched it and can tell me whether it is worth bothering with. I note it has
episodes called "The Singles"etc. and if these are ...
Terry goes to the model club!09 Apr 2006 23:41 GMT10
w.nker extrodonair Terry Flynn went to Arncliffe last night to try and become a member.
The idiot then starts telling the members that all their stuff is wrong!
That's one way of making sure that you will NOT get into the club. (At least while I'm a member!)
Nice one Terry ya ...
Loco Crew09 Apr 2006 22:52 GMT3
Whats the preferred make of loco crew ?
Hornby OK but cannot buy separately.
Bachmann dwarves (small HO ?).
Peco/Slaters puny but ok for shunters.
Small goods yard facilities09 Apr 2006 21:10 GMT5
I'm looking for prototype inspiration for the goods yard on
my layout (fictional Somerset & Dorset branch terminus)
which is currently still at the planning stage.
With only minimal space, and wanting to avoid things looking
MP 4-4-0 (N-scale)09 Apr 2006 19:22 GMT2
I just got one of these and I am very impressed by the appearance and
detail. It runs smooth too... Unfortunately, it only runs good on
level track without a load. Any grade, it starts slipping. I have not
tried pulling anything with it yet. I noticed that the pilot truck is
First railway almost done!09 Apr 2006 17:59 GMT1
After buying several items of track, I laid my daughter's birthday present
last night to try it all out (I completed the baseboard a week or so ago).
I've basically picked up almost the entire Hornby "trakmat", up to and including
pack E, quite reasonably, from both specialist ...
PFE under UP liscence?09 Apr 2006 15:39 GMT4
Just reading the posts on the liscencing debate, and an interesting thought
struck me.
I only have one UP consist running on my N scale transition-era layout
(which primarily focuses on the ATSF).  This consist is formed of a UP F3A
You wanna talk trains?09 Apr 2006 13:33 GMT7
Very recently released from Bachmann/Farish in N-scale were the various
'Peak' diesel classes 44, 45 & 46.  To my humble (non-2mm scale orientated)
eyes these have to be the best British outline N-gauge model to date.
Anyone agree or disagree, and what do they perform like?
Waterfalls09 Apr 2006 06:31 GMT2
Can someone point me to a web site that has tutorial info on using RTV to
construct a waterfall?

Athearn F7 w/sound09 Apr 2006 05:05 GMT1
I would like to put sound into my Highliner F7B. Can anyone tell me if
an Athearn Genisis F2, F3, F7, or F9 chassis with sound would work
under a Highliner F7B shell?

Making thin slices of plastic rod07 Apr 2006 18:02 GMT11
To be definite, let's say we're working with 1/16" styrene rod.  Usually
I'll have drilled the end of the rod first with something around a #74 or
#75 drill to a depth of about 1/8"-1/4" to get a piece of "tubing".  The
ultimate goal is a thin slice roughly .016" - .020" thick ...
Rodney James Layout07 Apr 2006 09:32 GMT4
Could someone out there tell me the name of the last layout, that was
being constructed by the late Rodney James, before his untimely death?
Thanks.
Height between layout levels06 Apr 2006 15:22 GMT2
I'm planning a new layout and it will have a hidden yard and loop accessed
by a helix.  Trains will be made up on the upper visible level and held in
the yard-loop until needed so I don't need to handle the trains unless there
is a problem.  I would like some thoughts on the ...
Photo collection going onto the net06 Apr 2006 10:27 GMT4
After many, many false starts, I am starting to scan and upload my
entire collection of 800+ rolls of black and white films onto the web.
These are freebies for personal use - my donation from the past to the
present for the future!
