4 Years of collecting streetcarmodels interviewed06 Apr 2006 00:13 GMT1
Totally unsuspected my cooperation was being asked for an interview in a
collectors-magazine.
Never heard of it till now, but afterwards not so surprising. For the first
time published some few months ago and now they came up with their 3th
Hornby Mk 3 coaches05 Apr 2006 17:05 GMT4
Does anybody know if there is such a thing as a parts diagram for the
Hornby Mk3 coaches. Do they come apart? Can things be changed? Can I
buy bogies and glazing independently?
Any help would be most appreciated.
If like me you're a tight a****05 Apr 2006 13:19 GMT11
I've got as far as starting to build up the senic sections of my garage
layout so I was scouting around as to what to use as ground cover/ballast.
Yup there's plenty of commercial products out there and some are very good
but I do hate parting with money. Anyway lon story short I ...
And one last tip.05 Apr 2006 11:13 GMT12
Track pins = Very expensive for what they are. For the same price as a
single packet of track pins you can pick up a pound (back to real
measurements folks) of the finest veneer pins from your local hardware(*)
shop.
Stripping wire in the middle question05 Apr 2006 09:52 GMT42
Since the main power leads will already be in place under the layout
and above my head. I was wondering if anyone has found an easy way to
strip the wire for attaching the track feeder wires.
I was also wondering if attaching the main power leads to bus bars
Trains of Thought05 Apr 2006 08:06 GMT16
Since so many models are available as undecorated, why do I have so much
trouble finding prototype photos of that railroad?
If cabooses are painted caboose red and reefers are painted reefer orange,
does that mean that flatcars should be painted flat black?
Another use for sand and wood dust05 Apr 2006 08:04 GMT3
Following my cheapskate thread I've been doing a little more experimenting.
One of the techniques I use when making stone walls, flagstones and the
like is to use plaster of paris in a thin shim over a wooden former and
then carve out the shape of the stones, flags, sets etc. It's ...

Buzzing noise in Soundtraxx Decoder04 Apr 2006 12:27 GMT9
KATO GP35, installed a soundtraxx DSD-AT100LC decoder.  Everything works
fine, engine control, lights, sounds etc...
However, whenever the engine is powered there is an annoying buzzing noise
from the speaker.  This is also when the unit is muted using (F8).  Note I
Proto 87 using P4 wheels04 Apr 2006 11:53 GMT1
I have updated my P87 spread sheet on my web page. I expect that
purists will not like the resultant numbers but it does allow the use
of P4 wheels re-gauged for P87. This will solve the problem of no
commercial support for P87 steam locomotive driving wheels.
[HO] Athearn ex-MDC 40' Gondola04 Apr 2006 07:57 GMT1

Which ex-MDC kit is this based on?  #1340?

I'm looking at building a New Zealand Railways loco on a Bachmann G
scale 4-6-0 chassis.
There seems (based on price) to be two different versions of the 4-6-0
(ignoring railway variations) offered, the set loco and the individual
