Looking for a Chassis wizard28 May 2006 04:24 GMT2
Being in country Victoria and frankly challenged when I comes to fine
repairs on locomotives, I am hoping someone in the Melbourne area might be
able to recommend a skilled and competent person who could look at repairing
my HO Scale DJH (South African Railways) GCA Garratt that ...

Lionel ZW voltage28 May 2006 02:42 GMT2
I've acquired a Lionel ZW transformer and checking the voltage, I find
that the 4 terminals all have a high voltage of 21.4. What surprises me
is that in the off positon, A and D run about 3 volts and B and C about
1.5. I would think that the 4 terminals should read 0 volts in the ...
Prototype Info sources?27 May 2006 22:25 GMT2
I am currently writing up the station at Hale on the Altrincham to Chester
line in mid Cheshire.
This is intended to help modellers and I would like to offer some detail on
the traffic on the line, both passenger and freight.
Brushes - a clean sweep27 May 2006 21:17 GMT11
Have decided to go back to a little indoor OO modelling next winter,  old
bones are beginnig to find the shed less enticing.   I've drafted a
compact works layout and bought a Hornby J94 at the Dumfries show
yesterday, to commit myself.   When I opened the box today I found that
Fascinating change in plywood caused by gluing27 May 2006 21:15 GMT14
I'm cutting out the "die-cut" windows from the 4 walls of the HO-scale
(1:87) Campbell Boat House kit and most if it has gone fairly easily, but
I've had much greater difficulty cutting the window and door openings in the
two end walls -- and there was a major difference in the ...

Hi again all
I am just placing three magnificent tri-ang old World coaches on eBay and
just KNOW I will get asked why there are "different" couplers on them. Can
anyone enlighten me so I know the answer please?
RTR transfers27 May 2006 07:36 GMT1
I've acquired a fleet of 4 Hornby HAA wagons, all with the same running
number. I appreciate that this is very un-prototypical, so I thought I'd
try to change them for other numbers.
My question is how do I get the existing transfer off the thing without

Any ideas on how to determine the scale.

Better Drive for a old MDC (Roundhouse) BoxCab26 May 2006 17:12 GMT15
Sorry for me bad English.
I am looking for a better drive for the old MDC BOXCAB diesel.
Does one have an idea there? Web pages?
Could the drive match and work of a Bachmann diesel (GE 44)?
Scale relationships question--  Duuuh/26 May 2006 14:53 GMT4
I know that On30" track is nominally the same physical dimension between
the rails as HO standard.
Is Sn3'  also the same inside the rails dimension as HO?
Is Sn2 the same inside the rails dimension as N?
Terry T's /bons mots/ = joy, meaning, and purpose!26 May 2006 14:37 GMT12
Folks:
I just read the June MR and guess what -- Terry Thompson has
given a new dimension to my hobby!  I now know that the true
purpose of model railroading is to build a realistic right-of-way to
Frog polarity switching26 May 2006 12:07 GMT4
I'm using Peco live frog points with motors attached.
I then mount PL-13 accessory switches on the motors to switch the frogs.
My problem is that the switch mechanism does'nt seem to travel far enough
from one state to another, being limited to the distance the tie-bar can
