Has anyone tried one of these conversions? You take a Lima pancake motor and replace what looks like the armature. Now featured at intercity models http://www.intercitymodels.com and Model Torque at http://www.modeltorque.com.au/ . Considering one for a Lima HST power

Can British trains be used in the USA? I had my model layout in the UK. It's been boxed for over 10 yrs now; can I run the locomotives in the states? Is there anything special I need to buy? Why do I need to run them?

I'm in the process of building a few kit wagons (and enjoying it - or is that the glue?). The one I'm doing right now is has double bogies, and I'm not sure what couplings to use. i've used 3-links on the rest so far, and plan to use

Some months ago I asked for opinions on the Walther turntable and received reviews that ranged from "Piece of Crap" to "Excellent". Unfortunately, those in the Piece of Crap corner were correct. Now I'd like to get opinions on the Fleischmann and Marklin turntables.

In the April Model Rail, the Q&A column contains some advice on a partial repaint of a Lima 47. The answer says to rubdown, degrease and prepare the surface properly before applying the new colour. Pardon my ignorance, and all that, but what does "rubdown" actually mean?
