LMS DIESELS19 Sep 2006 23:39 GMT4
Salvé
Does anyone know what the livery of the LMS jackshaft diesel shunters (
1930´s) was?
The pix I've seen make me think they might be red with Gold/yellow lettering
LMS Black 5's19 Sep 2006 22:47 GMT44
Just to expose my ignorance  I have to ask if:
a) Did any of the 5's ever appear in Midland maroon.
b) Could any of the last series 446xx ever appear thus or indeed could
they even had appeared with a 4 digit number ie weren't they built

LGB Files for bankruptcy protection19 Sep 2006 20:37 GMT1
See http://www.lgb.de/deutsch/index.htm It is in German, but the gist is
that they have filed for bankruptcy protection and are looking for
investors.  Products are ready to ship for the Christmas season, but the
bank has frozen all assets.
Bachmann Class 45 PCB19 Sep 2006 20:18 GMT4
I finally got my hands on the Modelzone class 45 Royal Marines...
brought back memories of my youth... Very nice model, by the way!
Anyway, I opened it up to install a decoder, and checked the Bachmann
site, which says to remove all capacitors and inductors. I'll do that,
Off Topic - NZ Steam19 Sep 2006 11:06 GMT2
Gents,
I realise this a bit off topic, but I'm in the middle of putting
together a New Zealand Steam based layout.
Back in the dim and distant past, I remember owning a VHS video entitled
Resistors Question19 Sep 2006 04:50 GMT37
Is connecting two 560 Ohm resistors in series the same as having one 1120
Ohm resistor - that is, does it give 1120 Ohms of resistance in total?
Electricity boggles my mind.
Thanks
Model & prototype curves19 Sep 2006 04:17 GMT6
No, I don't mean 36-24-36. :-)
Looking for something else entirely in my clipping collection, I cam
across a table of prototype and model radii, along permitted locos to
run on them (February 1966 MR).
LED Constant Headlight Question19 Sep 2006 02:35 GMT7
Okay, let me stick my neck out a little.  I think it was David Starr's
recent comments on LED headlights that inspired me to attempt constant
lighting headlights.  I tried one headlight using the bridge rectified
(Radio Shack), a white LED and resistor and the thing worked fine.  I
Gil Reid prints19 Sep 2006 02:25 GMT2
I was out at a thrift shop the other night and found (and purchased) two
Gil Reid prints.
One is of a steam train yard or turntable. The right side has a N&W
4-8-4  heading toward the back of the picture, while B&O 5319 is coming

Did you experience the meteorite Monday?
Would you care to relate your experience to the group?
It might be off-topic, but it might also be interesting.

Hornby Class 50 problems (DCC)18 Sep 2006 22:15 GMT21
Any advice appreciated.
I have a Hornby class 50 (Ark Royal) fitted with a Lenz 1035 decoder. I was
bought the model as a present but it was some time before I could run it and
when I did I found its running to be very erratic. It would stall when
Airfix no more18 Sep 2006 17:58 GMT52
Looks like Airfix have gone into administration....

Although no longer in the railway end of the market, it seems it might
be the final end for a company thats been part of british life for many
American Chassis 218 Sep 2006 08:55 GMT10
I have a Hornby HST power car with duff motor. Rather than just replacing
the motor / armature, I'm wondering about putting a better chassis
underneath it. I've heard of people using the Bachmann Class 25 as a base,
but the chassis doesn't appear to be available from Bachmann.
