Helium gas tank cars.06 Sep 2006 15:17 GMT20

gas was transported by rail in tank cars. Was the gas under pressure in
these cars, if so, what pressure? If not under pressure, this means that the
tank cars would weigh less when loaded than when running ...

We received word today that Peter lost his battle with his illness on
September 1. He died peacefully with his family at hand. I'd like to
think that today Peter's sitting on that big front porch with Big John,
rockin' and sippin' lemonade and swappin' tales.

Today is the 56th anniversary of the Speedrail wreck during the 1950 NMRA
convention in Milwaukee, which killed ten people and injured forty-six more.
An interesting story on the wreck and the 1950 convention is here:

DCC sound in HO Bachmann Climax04 Sep 2006 00:32 GMT2
I just bought a Bachmann HO scale Climax and would like to put DCC sound in
it. Anyone have an experience doing this? I looked online to see if it could
find a decoder made specifically for the Climax, but only found one for the
On30 model.

I seem to have mislaid my membership card. Would I be correct in thinking my
membership number is the same as the last four digits on the top of the

Freight car help needed01 Sep 2006 01:40 GMT10
I have several freight cars with trucks that I am unable to tighten and, as
a result, they wobble down the track.  It appears that the threads have been
stripped, and the screws no longer hold.  Does anyone have suggestions for
solving this problem?
