Lionel Caboose lighting Problem31 Dec 2006 19:02 GMT1
I have relatively new Lionel Rio Grand lighted caboose. When it was brand
new it would light up more often than not. Now, it stays dark more often
than not when it goes around the track. I cleaned the track, cleaned the
trucks on the caboose, cleaned the rollers. What else can I ...
The Polar Express Doesn't Smoke31 Dec 2006 16:20 GMT12
I got a Polar Express set for around the Christmas tree, and found that I
don't get any puffing smoke. Everything else seems to work fine. It's been
34 years since I had a train and I had forgotten how fun they are just to
sit and watch.

Has any manufacturer made a commercial model of an Alco S-6 switcher - in
any scale?

Question: Marklin Z-Scale31 Dec 2006 12:17 GMT9
Hello.  I have been looking at Marklin Z-Scale sets.  There is one on eBay I
am considering buying, but in doing some research on the set, I found (as
seen in the link below) that it uses AC to power the train.  I am hoping
this is a misprint.  Here is the link to where I found ...

[O] 3-rail vs. 2-rail31 Dec 2006 09:57 GMT13
As a non O-scale modeler, I'm a bit confused by the terms "3-rail" and
"2-rail" used to describe O scale equipment.  Besides the obvious difference
of power pick-up between the two types of equipment, are freight and
passenger cars interchangeable between the two?  What are the ...
Quick Concor Question....31 Dec 2006 04:29 GMT8
Does anyone know if Concor ever produced a collector's set in N scale
of L&N's Pan American?
I've seen references to it, but I've never seen one for sale - on eBay,
on any of the other auction sites, or at any shows I've gone to.
Atlas code 100 track switch voltage30 Dec 2006 20:30 GMT1
The local shops have given me some possibly conflicting answers to the
question about the voltage and type needed for the electrically actuated
switches. One says to only use the AC accessory connection on the power pack
I have and the other says it doesn't matter whether or not ...
Kato Scale (Japan)30 Dec 2006 18:11 GMT4
Apart from Shinkansen, the railways of Japan were built to the 3ft 6ins
gauge.
So how does this work for Kato's Japanese ranges are their models
(HO/N) built to a larger scale to represent accurately the narrower
Any HO Scale Ouboard Motors?30 Dec 2006 15:53 GMT15
Especially older models (or ones that can be backdated) since I'm modeling a
harbor scene in 1938-1940 timeframe.  I'm especially interested in separate
motors but I'll buy the whole boat rig if it's appropriate.  Who
manufactures these things?
Did Union Pacific EMD E7's Haul Freight Also?30 Dec 2006 15:11 GMT3
Did the UP E-7 diesel engines haul freight or were they used for passenger
service only?
Thanks

DCC in a Hornby R2452 0-4-0T30 Dec 2006 10:40 GMT16
I am about to try my first decoder fitting in a non-socket loco.
As I look inside the loco there appears to be a small component covered in red
heatshrink apparently in series with the motor - What is it and should I remove
it or leave it?
Winterspecial and best wishes 200730 Dec 2006 05:21 GMT1
I wish everybody in this group a healthy and prosperous 2007, especially
with the nice hobby we have together. I hope to contribute my mite.
It only is a pity we have to little snow in the most parts here in Europe
(in some parts of the world to much I hear) to make these nice
