What are Vintage 1950 Fleischmann HO trains worth?13 Dec 2006 23:10 GMT1
I recently moved into an retirement home. During the move I found my
Fleischmann trains I had purchased in Germany fifty years ago. I used
these for the years I was in Germany and a few after. They all run when
I put them in storage. I had not tested them so not sure they work but

N scale: Code 80 vs EZ track engine questions13 Dec 2006 16:09 GMT3
I am a neophyte in the model railroading world. My grandfather always
had the old Lionel 3 track system around the tree, and when he passed
last year I inherited one of his N scale systems (Haven't seen it, it's
in another state, not sure what type of track).
HO Track questions (getting started)13 Dec 2006 11:09 GMT27
Okay, I read the FAQ (http://www.ndrr.com/rmr_faq), surfer the web,
etc. but have lots of questions...
Background: A long time ago, I was given a Lionel set (x-mas) which I
was wise enough to return for a decent HO steam loco and a collection
CSI & Model Railroaders12 Dec 2006 22:50 GMT24
Just got around to watching this week's episode of CSI:Crime Scene
Investigator, where the culprit in a series of murders turns out to b a
model railroader with a lot of talent in depicting scenes (more on a
dollhouse scale, but that just makes it easier).  The culprit's house ...

Block insulation question12 Dec 2006 14:02 GMT9
I'm putting together a little DC HO layout for the 1st time in decades,
and to create blocks, is it better to use the insulated nylon rail joiners,
or to use the normal metal ones, then slice the rail where I want and glue
in some thin styrene as I've read that others do?

DCC and athean F7A and SD 40-212 Dec 2006 04:59 GMT9
I'm investing in a DCC controller in the new year when Hornby release their
Elite system and most of my european engines shouldn't pose to much of a
problem to convert over to DCC . But I popped the cover on one of my F7s and
all of the wiring and pickups seem to be in the truck ...
Hall Effect sensor use11 Dec 2006 23:35 GMT1
I posted this (or at least tried to) from my Earthlink account and it
looks like something stopped working. Oh well.
Anyway, I see that photo sensors and infra-red sensors are used a lot
in train position sensore but I don't see much with Hall Effect

However, I am very impressed with the rest of the look of the model. Lets
hope it is a much better model that the OO Pendalino.
On30 Bachmman Tram11 Dec 2006 22:21 GMT10
I just received a Bachmann On30 United Traction tram direct from the
US.  On using it, it shorted out my controller.  Checking, the copper
strips connecting the lights to the power truck run very close to the
metal U frame of the motor.  In my case, there waws no clearance.  The
Fleischmann DCC controller question?????11 Dec 2006 20:04 GMT1
I've heard the Fleischmann 6822 and the 6802 are supposed to be pretty good
as I read about them in model rail magazine. The 6802 twin centre is £350
and the 6822 twin control is £195.
The Gaugemaster.co.uk seem to be the only site that sell them and the only
