'OO' track gauges19 Jan 2007 04:58 GMT33
I currently have a bunch of track building components in the
post from C&L, and, in the course of re-reading Iain Rice's
book on 4mm track building, a question has arisen... Are
there any finescale OO track gauges available apart from the

O Scale Scenery?18 Jan 2007 19:50 GMT3
I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on the "In-the-Box" scenery
kits.  I was looking seriously at Woodland's Scenics but found that most of
their products are designed around the HO and N scale not the O Scale.
The two I found that were most promising were Scenery Express ...
Salvaging Cars?18 Jan 2007 18:52 GMT4
I have come into possession of a number of cars (and a few locos) whose
bodies are coming loose from the chassis at the slightest test.
A hobbyist suggested that i use "Goo" (but very little) to keep them
attached, yet still seperatable, if I want to fool with weights, lights, or

Rookie Painting Question....17 Jan 2007 15:26 GMT17
I've stripped a couple of passenger cars by immersing them in alcohol -
and it worked beautifully.
Now, after I paint them the proper color, I'll be wanting to put on a
thin wash of black to highlight.
Did Tycho Become Bachmann?17 Jan 2007 15:25 GMT17
Just a general question... in the 60s as a kid, I had a couple of (I
thoughht at the time) nice railway st ups on our family ping pong table
that came as Christmas gifts.  They were all Tycho brand stuff and I
still have a steam locomotive from that time.  I don't see Tycho ...
Novice Questions, outdoor O-gauge layout17 Jan 2007 15:15 GMT7
I'm a relative novice re model RRs, but I'm wondering whether anyone has
built an O-gauge layout outdoors, and if so, what factors should be
considered. What I'm considering would be a layout mounted on a plywood
base on our rear patio, which is about 30 ft x 20ft, and which is
Laying Ballast17 Jan 2007 15:09 GMT2
has anyone got any simple advice on laying ballast> (00 gauge).
My base is ply, but before laying the track I covered it with that fibreglass sheet that goes under wood flooring, stuck down with PVA.  I painted roughly where the track would go with a pewter coloured acrylic, laid ...
ICI chlorine tanks17 Jan 2007 10:54 GMT6
Anyone happen to know what the length over headstocks and/or tank diameter
of the 10'6" wheelbase ICI chlorine tanks was? They look rather longer than
the standard 17'6" but that could be because of the low tank.
Also did these ever have a ladder on the side? I believe they didn't ...
