| "O Scale" vs "OH WOW" Scale | 25 Feb 2007 02:12 GMT | 1 |
Being a NASA lover I just had to order it. An MTH 20-98483 NASA #2006 75' AutoTrain AutoCarrier. When I opened the packing box I thought there had been a mistake and I was sent a G scale version. Nope. The behemoth is MTH O scale. Just a little

| How to letter N-scale | 24 Feb 2007 00:51 GMT | 6 |
How do companies letter such small text on N-scale rolling stock? Do they make silk-screens? If so, is possible for the hobbyist to make them from a computer?

Hello chaps, The usual apologies if this has already been said and done before, but I'm going to embark upon getting a garden railway in the garden (obviously!), and any hints and tips would be most appreciated.

My son was given a Lima Class 20 loco which must be 20 - 25 years old. Tried it on the test track .... no movement just a loud hum and a rattle. How to remove the shell ? Eventually noticde one of the buffers

| DMU from the 50's | 23 Feb 2007 14:44 GMT | 1 |
Y6 n:o 1113, one of the DMU units of the huge YBo6-series built in the 50's. Today a few ones of these space age designed vehicles, more or less rebuild, still are used in internal service - this one, almost in original shape, probably used for staff transportation.

| Hornby 31 lighting connections question | 23 Feb 2007 14:14 GMT | 5 |
I have a Hornby 31 which I know was cobbled together from two duffers. The body is from one loco and the chassis from another. All is well, except that the red tail lights don't work. This appears to be because the spring contacts on the chassis don't meet the pads in the

| Davenport - Porter price diff.? | 23 Feb 2007 04:26 GMT | 2 |
Looking at the Bachmann's 0-4-0 Side Rod Gas Mechanical in On30 after seeing a conversion kit for it. I know the prices in the Bachmann catalog are inflated compared to what the products can be purchased at near anywhere, but why is the Davenport set at $110 while the 0-4-0

| 4-14-4 AA20-1 | 22 Feb 2007 07:21 GMT | 11 |
I wonder if model vendors ever consider modeling failed trains. The 4-14-4 was a single prototype Russian leviathan that made only one publicity trip in 1935. It was apparently so heavy that it spread the track, wrecked the points of switches, was far too large for the turntables, ...

| OO & HO (not a scale / gauge war) | 22 Feb 2007 07:13 GMT | 5 |
The discussion of Hornby, and HO / OO in a different thread had me wondering: 1. How common is it for someone to use a European HO scale model on an OO railroad because it is close to a prototype that they want? I ask this question because if I remember right Lima used to make a ...
