Couplers19 Feb 2007 19:36 GMT2
I see in the thread on "Best H0 system for newcomer?" that the issue of
couplers has comeup.
For my Polish armoured train project, I have a number of Lilliput and
Dapol wagons, but I also will be using some North American style open

Okay, Let's Talk Trains.19 Feb 2007 19:09 GMT16
Here is my completely nonsensical collection of trains. All purchased since
The Polar Express Set I got for under the Christmas tree. I think I may
have to take a break from eBay... after the current crop arrives that is. I
have more trains than track.
Any GOP Modelers out here?19 Feb 2007 19:05 GMT29
Any GOP guys out here who are train modelers?  Let me know I want to
get a group together for train modeling.  Thanks!
Marklin System - H0 scale vs. other systems19 Feb 2007 18:52 GMT19
Hi NG,
I grew up in Scandinavia, and had a Marklin brand electric train as a
boy. I am considering purchasing a new set, and since I know live in
the US, I am curious as to whether anyone can offer information on the
Ore Cars, kitbashing thereof19 Feb 2007 17:52 GMT4
Looking at a couple of 25' ore cars I picked up at a train show.
They are assembled, a little dusty, and totally stock.  The cast zamac
undercarriage was left as raw Zamac, the couplers are plastic Kadee
clones with the plastic knuckle close spring warped out of shape.  Paint
Point wiring using Tortoise19 Feb 2007 15:18 GMT1
Clarification sought please.
I am new to this so please excuse me if terminology is incorrect.
I am wiring a large layout, 4 circuts each with passing loops, mulitiple
other turnouts.
Painting Railway Ties and Coal in a Coal Tender19 Feb 2007 13:58 GMT18
Do MR enthusiasts paint the railway ties on their track?  I'm
anticipating a diorama to display my Polish armoured train project and
my comrades in the plastic model world will frown at me if I have any
unpainted plastic!  So...
Handlaying track question.19 Feb 2007 11:23 GMT33
Been looking at a couple model train mags I picked up at the hobby shop
last week (inspiration). In some of the close photos where the track was
hand layed (hope that's the correct term -where you put each individual
tie down then add the rails), I noticed the little nails are not ...

Terrible pun...18 Feb 2007 22:12 GMT2
...but worthy of a wider audience I thought?
From Steve Jones' website:-
"The hobby, it seems to me, is a very different shape to that outlined by
the etched brass horsebox contingent. Far from the end of the world being
Too Many Sockpuppets18 Feb 2007 16:08 GMT5

But it is getting old so I am stopping and just using myself.

VI Trains 37 photo on the Peco site18 Feb 2007 11:54 GMT7

Theres a reasonably good picture of the first release there.
I'm no 37 expert, but the tumblehome looks a bit sharp-edged to me.
Also, the yellow ends look like they could be self-coloured... surely not?
Keeping layouts clean?17 Feb 2007 23:57 GMT24
Just curious here... I see so many beautiful, highly detailed layouts
in the various model RR mags and got to wondering. How do they keep
these clean? Especially the ones with lots of delicate handmade trees
and shrubs, etc. Seems to me it would be difficult if not impossible
Dual Gauge Track17 Feb 2007 16:30 GMT7
I'm in the process of building a 3'x4' diorama that is going to include at
least one section of dual gauge (HO + HOn3) track.  To do this, I need one
or two dual gauge switches.  Does anyone make this anymore or do I have to
scratch build them?
