N scale VO1000 decoder18 Mar 2007 19:14 GMT3
Am I correct in understanding that the PnP decoder from TCS for the N scale
Atlas VO1000 does NOT have lighting attached to the decoder board? Am I to
be soldering to the decoder? Kind of shoots the whole plug n play thing, no?
Please advise if you are able.
Thoughts about scale18 Mar 2007 16:50 GMT21
[57,289 in a series here]
So, I was just thinking (what a concept!) today about scales, and which
ones we prefer. My own favorite, ever since childhood, is HO; for some
reasone, it has always seemed to be the perfect size, the best
worst diesel/electric livery18 Mar 2007 06:16 GMT7
While we are on the subject of favourite liveries, what about your least
favourite (i.e. worst) livery.
I had occasion to forsake my usual stamping ground last Thursday, and
took a trip from Liverpool Street to Ipswich. I was utterly amazed that

New railroad chartered. L-girders ahoy!18 Mar 2007 00:32 GMT23
Folks:
What can I say? I got tired of being president of a
box of track and some plans, so I've started a-
building, occasional water infiltration be damned.
Athearn 0-4-2 little monster17 Mar 2007 18:33 GMT4
I'm working on restoring the 1950's Athearn HO 0-4-2.  Love switchers,
just couldn't say no to this one.  Stripped down and cleaned/
lubricated all the running gear and motor, it runs fine now.  Well,
except it runs in reverse. .. the negative lead goes across the frame
Is the NMRA worth joining?17 Mar 2007 15:44 GMT25
A friend wants me to join.  I am not sure if it is worth the price?
What do I get from it that a non member does not?
Poll - Modeling Era16 Mar 2007 22:34 GMT55
Here's an informal poll I'm conducting at http://www.greenbayroute.com/:
Modeling Era: What era do you model?
Early Steam ( - 1918)
Standard Steam (1918 - 1941)
On30 questions16 Mar 2007 20:15 GMT6
Some time ago I asked about HOn30 and the responses were very good.
Most suggested On30 as the better scale, for a lot of reasons.
I have looked at On30 and think it may be the way for me to go but I do have

UP trestle fire at Sacramento16 Mar 2007 17:30 GMT4
UP's double track ballast deck timber trestle approach to the bridge over
the American River is burning for almost its entire length.  No take on
repair time, or if passenger service will be re-routed over the Feather
River route. or replaced by bus service from Sacramento to Reno.

Question re: 1:1 trains....16 Mar 2007 02:43 GMT7
Does anyone know of a newsgroup/discussion group that can help me with
some information about Amtrak, its schedules, and how closely it
adheres to said schedules?
Will appreciate the information....
New UK Model Railway Magazine15 Mar 2007 23:27 GMT35
Just had a subs club newsletter from Ian Allen who indicate that they
are launching a new magazine with the title HORNBY magazine, endorsed by
Hornby, price £3.35. I wonder if it will be as good as their last model
railway modellers magazine Model Railway Constructor. Out on ...
DAVID NEBENZAHL is CHAIRMAN COW15 Mar 2007 22:41 GMT6
Check them out they are the same troll.  David is working overtime to
change his name and ruin this train board.  Don't let him and pray for
his soul.
Lionel SD40-2 Rear Coupler Problem15 Mar 2007 20:51 GMT2
I have a Chessie SD40-2 with a rear coupler that tends to uncouple
randomly. The track is flat (GarGraves on ultra-low pile carpet), the
couplers line up just fine when coupled. It doesn't seem to make a
difference whether the coupled car is heavy or light.
