Lima OO scale31 Jul 2007 21:25 GMT183
Can anyone kindly advise:
I have acquired some Lima rolling stock, supposedly all OO gauge, but some
are distinctly smaller than others – for instance mark 2 (I think it is)
Inter-City carriages some 264 mm long and some 232 mm long (and
HO Rapido Passenger Cars - Erie Lackawanna31 Jul 2007 18:52 GMT1
I'm looking to buy the HO scale Rapido passenger cars in Erie Lackawanna,
particularly the coaches, but some of the other cars as well.  Does anyone
know of a place that might have them available?
Thanks

Restarted with my layout..31 Jul 2007 14:56 GMT15
Many thanks to all the help so far, it's got me well into this now.
Thanks to the chap that sent me the 6x4 two tier layout. I set up a mock
layout using that design (or as near to as I could get). However, I just
couldn't get enough traction on the 0-4-0 to pull more than two ...
Bachmann 2MT 2-6-0 and (not) DCC31 Jul 2007 00:16 GMT33
I have just received my Bachmann Mickey Mouse, and very nice it is
too!
As noted in the model press, the loco / tender gap is huge as
delivered, but a shorter tender coupling link is provided - well done
Trees30 Jul 2007 22:36 GMT6
The previous thread on airbrushing reminded me of when I made trees for a
previous layout using the old fibre rawl plugs rather than the new plastic
ones. Does anyone know if these can still be obtained?

trackside fencing29 Jul 2007 16:55 GMT4
I'm modelling the late fifties/early sixties. Was there a standard
practice as to whether fencing rails were on the track side of the
posts or the outward side? I saw both on a train journey from
Newmarket to Norwich yesterday, but I'm conscious the practice may
Hornby (ex-Lima) Class 66?28 Jul 2007 13:00 GMT33
Why the hell are people buying this when the far superior Bachmann version
is available?

Bristol Area Inspection Saloon28 Jul 2007 11:04 GMT3
I am looking for work for my imminent Bachmann Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 in
lined green, which will become 46525 of Bristol.
Anyone know the Diagram  / identity of the Bristol Area inspection
saloon around 1961?
Magazine Ads28 Jul 2007 00:49 GMT1
Just been looking through the May 2007 issue of Model Rail (yes I know,
a bit behind the times down under, but it doesn't matter).
What struck me is the number of ads which feature distorted photos taken
from manufacturer web sites, presumably. They have been very poorly
Masokits sprung bogies27 Jul 2007 11:10 GMT5
I'm thinking of making a couple of carriages with sprung suspension.  Does
anyone on this ng have any knowledge or experience of the Masokits coach
bogie spinging systems.  I've seen the Masokits website but would like to
know how easy they are to make and do they work well?
Wheel depth - Nostalgia and another question.27 Jul 2007 05:59 GMT3
Saw the thread about wheel depths and I had the same problem. Just come back
to railway modelling after nearly forty years. Well 'come back' may be
something of a misnomer. As I recall I tended to use my Triang layout -
lovingly built by my father - more as a Scalextric set ...
Wheel depth on older models.27 Jul 2007 05:36 GMT33
Firstly, thanks to all for their input on my first posting here, it was
a great deal of help.
As I'm starting out with nothing, and have limited funds, I have been
doing a fair bit of looking on eBay (but have spotted the over-priced
