As an experiments, I fitted another Ringfield drive unit to my 1970's Hornby Class 47 locomotive. I also fitted a steel weight to the chassis to aid traction. No problems in hauling 12 coaches, 16 Freightliner wagons or 24+ mineral wagons from a standing start around

I've used cardboard as suggested. I've also located the exploded diagram on the Hornby web site. (This is all related to a class 121 Bubble Car). But the casing still wont separate from the chassis. The exploded view seems to show 6 locating lugs and I think I've got them

What the difference between the two types of Hornby power tracks R8241 ( digital ? ) and R8206 ? My guess is the 'old' R8206 has a resistor or something built in ! Chris
