Carriage sidings21 Aug 2007 15:59 GMT3
Does anyone know of a decent site with plans of carriage sidings and
workings? I want to get the sidings and other "stuff" planned out in
outline at least before I start looking at the main runs of track,
since last time I ended up with all kinds of nonsense trying to get
Which airbrush kit ?20 Aug 2007 23:15 GMT11
I am going to have a go at making some model trees ( and possibly some
other scenery ) for my sons layout and upon reading various advice
sites have come to the conclusion an airbrush is needed.
I am not after anything fancy,  just a basic kit powered by a
New to Group and looking for help (kind of long)20 Aug 2007 20:54 GMT6
Hello, I'm fifty and my two sons are middle teens, I grew up with
model trains since I was old enough to walk. I had a decent HO layout
when I was about 12 years old. Interests changed and it was packed
away until about ten years ago when I introduced my two boys to model
Atlas N RSD-5 '2138' decoder20 Aug 2007 09:07 GMT1
I have an Atlas RSD-5 Diesel loco in N scale.  Item number 42307.  I
cannot find reference anywhere to a DCC decoder for this unit. I have
found the Digitrax DZ123 for the RSD-1 and RSD-3 but not the 5.
Anyone had any luck with this?  Thanks.
Rail Clock20 Aug 2007 05:08 GMT3
I realize this is a little off-topic, but thought interests would be
similar.
I'm trying to find a wall clock that has pictures of different trains
at each hour and that on each hour whistles and makes the sound of

allocation history of the GWR 8-wheel tender?19 Aug 2007 15:51 GMT4
I'm looking for prototype information about the solitary Collett 8-wheel
tender that was built in 1930 as Lot A123. This looks quite straightforward
bash for a Collett tender body and a set-and-a-third of standard GWR
axleboxes/springs, and I have drawings of the thing including the

Crime or misdemeanour19 Aug 2007 00:51 GMT78
Got fed up with trying to stop kit built lnwr cauliflower from derailing on
curve (2nd radius). Perhaps should have used a slimmer motor and driven of
rear wheels cos centre drivers have no lateral movement at all.
Anyway filed centre drivers to be flangeless - is this a crime.

oil in the motor18 Aug 2007 06:57 GMT18
I have (ahem) a friend (ahem) who was a little careless with a can of WD40
on the motor of a Hornby HST. Under DC, it would run fitfully, but after
removing the body it became obvious that arcing was going on around the
armature. I have tried to clean the comutator and carbon ...
What no comment on Bachmann and Rebuilt Scot ?17 Aug 2007 23:04 GMT6
So get your orders in for a Hornby one - wonder if Hornby made less that
they would have done as they would be expecting a few misguided persons to
wait for bachmanns to appear.
Dont blame hornby if you dont get one from the first batch !

I have a question about building an N gauge layout.  I have the width
available of 1' 7"  In that width would I be able to build in N a half
circle of track to make an end of a loop?
Does N gauge suffer the same as my native OO whereby the newer loco's
