HORNBY R216 Prime Pork Closed Van10 Sep 2007 02:15 GMT2

Hornby,  Lima etc. made / make.
They add a bit of colour to our sons layout.
Some examples I particularly like are :-
Flying Scotsman birthday tragedy09 Sep 2007 17:53 GMT4
This being South Africa, DCC is not everywhere available (actually hardly
anywhere), so for my son's birthday I ordered a DCC fitted Hornby Flying
Scotsman loco from a supplier in the UK. Cost me a fair whack of money, but
brought the desired amount of joy to young Andy, aged 9.

model photography costs a fortune07 Sep 2007 08:08 GMT6
It's good to see a group about this topic, it's not as well covered as
it should be. People don't realize how expensive professional
photography can be! That's why people who need/want great photos need
to push the issue. I mean, I know why photographers charge as much as

I make this post just as a series of observations which may (or may
not) be usful to some brethren.
A while back I was trying to pick brains to determine the difference
between un & rebuilt pacifics (both types) but without result. i had

ViTrains 37, first impression.05 Sep 2007 19:21 GMT2
Having a bit of money to spend from my birthday, I decided to take a
punt at one of those ViTrains 37s'. It arrived this morning, and initial
impressions are very good. It's heavy, and feels well made.
Considering the cost (£45), the detail is very good I think, not that
009 engine turntable05 Sep 2007 18:44 GMT2
It transpires that I need a turntable to access the engine shed (It's John
Turner's fault - he should have sold me an additional set of points).
Eventually I hope to run engines up to and including 2-6-2T what size
should I make my turntable, 262T +Greenwich couplings = ???
Changing rolling stock wheels.05 Sep 2007 14:58 GMT19
Some of the rolling stock I got off eBay is the old Tri-ang wheel
profile, and does not of course work well with the Hornby setrack
profile.
I got some replacement metal wheels for rolling stock, and have managed
