Split Lines26 Oct 2007 13:55 GMT4
Isnt it about time that both Hornby and Bachmann concentrated on dealing with
split lines in the boilers? Has anyone seen or got a new rebuilt West
Country/BOB? There are two, equally as prominent. This is just one example,
there are many others and in my view, they could be easily ...

Choosing a Decoder25 Oct 2007 18:02 GMT13
I'm working on picking a decoder to upgrade them to run on my clubs
Digitrax DCC system.  There are a LOT of options out there, what should I
be looking for feature wise in the decoder?  What should I avoid?
Two locomotives have the 8-pin plug, but the others are older and would
turn tables 10/8/0725 Oct 2007 09:31 GMT24
Several folks have asked about performance of various turntables on this
group. I had one of those plastic Heljan units for thirty years and it never
performed well. I up graded to a 14 inch Bowser unit and it work perfectly.

N scale track wiring24 Oct 2007 20:05 GMT9
I am new to model railroading and am putting together an n scale
layout, I have read that atlas switches are very unreliable as to
making electrical contact. My question is would it be adviseable to
use a double pole double throw switch to activate or deactivate the
Royal Train info24 Oct 2007 15:01 GMT4
I want to model in N the Royal train post 1977, but try as I might
using the web all I seem to be able to dig up are the references on
'Lizzies' site, and Wiki's notes.   These all seem to focus on either
the engines (useful but not what I'm after) or the carriage numbers.
Farish 08 and outside frames?24 Oct 2007 07:57 GMT9
I'm currently faced with a dilemma I'm hoping you can help me with.
I have a small station terminus layout in N, and I've purchased the GF
25's, 31's and a lovely little 04, but a mid '80's BR station would
not look right without an 08 loitering around the yard.  However, I

(I am crossposting this to both the prototype and the modelling group
as my question refers to both sides.)
From the 1920s until shortly before the opening of the channel tunnel, a

Finalized Track Plan24 Oct 2007 04:36 GMT38
I have finalized the track plan fro the layout and it will be a double
track mainline with 3" radius on the outside mainline and 36" on the
inside mainline with 2 crossovers and a double ended 8 track yard with
5 storage tracks on each side and 4 double ended sidings with a track
lichen preserved with antifreeze24 Oct 2007 04:35 GMT7
I am making layout scenery with local lichen, dye, and a solution of
water/glycerin.
Glycerin isn't cheap and I was wondering if anyone had tried substituting it
with antifreeze ( which contains a good deal of glycerin)
American Flyer Pennsylvania 310 Parts24 Oct 2007 00:42 GMT2
I recently found a Penn 310 steam engine at an antique shop. I took it
appart to clean it, (the relay was a mess) and I noticed the one of
the rivets used for the crank is broken. Anyone know where I can get a
replacement?
New Hornby Point Motor and Uncoupler23 Oct 2007 22:24 GMT3

We'll all probably live a bit longer if you'd simply killfile
Wayne.
Thanks,
Atlas track work22 Oct 2007 23:09 GMT27
On a recent trip to the USA I puchased an Atlas book of layout plans.   I've
decided to try and build one of them; I don't feel confident enough to make
up my own layout quite yet.
Now, I can purchase Atlas track using mail order from the USA but I'd prefer
