| Loco's not suitable for Atlas code 55 N-scale track | 12 Dec 2007 14:29 GMT | 8 |
I like Atlas code 55 because it looks great, however I will need to change wheels on some rolling stock, with the cars thats no problem but what do I do with the locomotives that touch the ties, can I replace the wheels or is it complicated.

I would be interested in hearing comments about the quality of the Lionel train sets that are sold in the big box stores such as Target, Menards, Hobby Lobby, etc. in respect to those sold by other sources. Thanks

| Powering an MDC/Roundhouse Climax engine | 11 Dec 2007 06:22 GMT | 1 |
Howdy: Many years ago I bought a Climax loco kit, un-powered, to kit bash a project I saw in an issue of Model Railroader. At the time I was planning on it being a static model, with no need for locomotion (no pun intended). I've since changed my mind and now want to put a

| Seep vs Peco point motors | 10 Dec 2007 19:14 GMT | 22 |
I'm just about to embark on the track laying for my new layout, and I think I'm going to have to decide what to do about point motors from the outset. For my other layout, I used Peco point motors with the extra switch, which I used to control the frog polarity. They've been fine, ...

| Controllers | 10 Dec 2007 12:47 GMT | 27 |
I'd appreciate some feedback (sorry!) on currently available controllers as I'm about to buy one for the first time in nearly 30 years. I don't want to go with DCC for a couple of reasons that I'll mention at the bottom.

| Stanier tenders for Jubilees | 10 Dec 2007 11:58 GMT | 8 |
I would like to paint up a BR Green Stanier Tender in the Lined Black livery used by the LMS. The Fowler Tender is lined in White on marroon but none of my photos are good enough to determine the Stanier scheme, in fact I cannot detect any lining at all (except on the locos).

| Raise the roof ... or in my case track | 10 Dec 2007 10:49 GMT | 5 |
I wish to raise one oval of my sons layout on some kind of pier arrangement and was thinking about cutting out two pieces of 6 mm MDF board to the shape of the track and supporting it with dowels. My concern is will the MDF be flexible enough to allow the slope /

| Blue Pullman | 09 Dec 2007 19:55 GMT | 3 |
I want to try an re-engine a Triang Blue Pullman (OO). The centre-centre for the outer wheels is 22.1cm. Does anyone know which present Hornby or Bachmann product comes closest to this (either as a DMU or a Bo-Bo) for using an alternative chassis?

| Temporary Display Layout on Styrofoam | 09 Dec 2007 14:58 GMT | 10 |
Hi, I'm whipping together a temporary display layout (just an oval, 2x3, n-scale). I plan to use styrofoam (pink or blue) as the base and for rough contours. Do I need to glue some 1/4" ply on the bottom for strength or to prevent crumbling or help it survive the trip from my

| Trix dcc | 09 Dec 2007 01:22 GMT | 20 |
thanks for the help clearing up the AC/DC thing with DCC earlier, I want to go with N gauge, and whilst there are a few DCC starter sets out there, they all seem to have really naff looking controllers, i like the look of the Trix 66920 controller, avoiding the maerklin

| Help on 1958 Lionel Horn replacement | 08 Dec 2007 14:19 GMT | 1 |
Last year around this time, I asked for help concerning where the horn was supposed to be in my 1958 Lionel 218 Santa Fe locomotive. Originally purchased from my grandfather, my Dad had no recollection of the horn ever being sounded when he was a kid. Someone
