Anyone knows what japanese brand of trains is...26 Mar 2008 10:48 GMT16
I have a dummy N engine that looks like part of one of those modern,
fast trains.  On the bottom, what looks loke the brand name, is in
japanese characters inside an oval (maybe this is the logo) then, next
to it, it reads "1:160 scale, Made in Japan". Does anyone know what

Peco code 75 turnouts with radius > 1524 mm (SL-E188/9)26 Mar 2008 09:12 GMT21
I am in the process of planning my first H0 layout (Danish mid-sixties
theme) and has been recommended Peco code 75 for the trackwork.
My problem is that I would like some of my turnouts to have a radius
well above the 1524 mm of the SL-E188/SL-E189.
Gaugemaster/ hornby26 Mar 2008 00:21 GMT1
I'm fairly new to this and I'm setting up a DCC system around the
Gaugemaster prodigy advance2 controller. I've been given a Hornby accessory
decoder R8216 and I'm trying to make the first point motor terminals
address '5'. I have tried programming on the main and program track ...

Well, I'm actually almost done building the "partially-assembled" (yeah, 10
parts assembled) Penn Line PRR E-6 Atlantic, with the almost original
motor, the DC-60.
Does anyone know of a source for a replacement motor that does *not* cost
tortoise switch25 Mar 2008 00:59 GMT35
First installation - seems to work great, but are they supposed to hum
indefinitely, only one attached so far ?
Currently it's wired to the variable DC of one powerpack, will probably get
a AC-DC converter thru circuitron, or is there an ideal way to run them ? Is

I am a model railroader, and have been since the mid '50's. Gues you

at least, that's what my daughter says. Anyway, I am starting a small
hobby business specializing in model railroading, with an emphasis on

Salvaging an old brass tender.20 Mar 2008 19:24 GMT28
Found an old Max Grey (probably) S.P. oil tender on eBay for a "buy it now"
price of $75 and took a chance. Turned out to be a *really* old max Grey
tender, probably from the mid to late '50s, as it had only a generic brass
turning to represent the brake cylinder, minimal detail ...
Flanger signs20 Mar 2008 02:41 GMT7
Flanger signs or snow plow markers were often used to warn plow crews lift
the flanger between the rails or raise the side wings because of an upcoming
obstruction which could be obscured under snow.  Obvious obstructions would
be road crossings, guard rails, turnouts and ...
