tree making31 May 2008 20:57 GMT7
I was up at my dad's over the last few days. He's a bit poorly but took the
time to show me around his new layout and in particular the trees he's just
been making. Anyway his technique is new to me and the results looked
superb so I thought I'd share it ... apologies if it's old ...

White decal circles29 May 2008 23:15 GMT21
I'm looking for a source of white decal circles (dots?) about 6" dia. in HO

The right throttle knob on my Digitrax DT 400 throttle no longer responds
properly.  It's most noticible when turning the knob counterclockwise and
instead of a straight-line sequence the readout might run

Modeling opportunities abound!26 May 2008 19:56 GMT14
A small  -probably F0 or F1-  tornado touched down just south of me in
Perris California this afternoon, crossing both I-215 and the Santa Fe
branch line that runs parallel to the freeway for circa 10 miles.
It only flipped a single tractor-trailer rig over on the freeway, but it
"Cold Steam" Locos26 May 2008 19:55 GMT28
Back in the late 40's or early 50's, The Model Railroader had an
article about essentially live steam locos in O gauge that used dry
ice for power rather than a steam boiler. Does anyone here know of
anybody who has done this? Despite the threat of contributing

DCC and Graphite24 May 2008 05:05 GMT2
I've just been given an interesting tip for regular DC and am wondering what
opinions are as to how it might work for DCC.
Its this....rub very clean rails with a graphite artists pencil, this
apparently greatly improves electrical contact and puts a protective layer
