I know that most people here have a good handle on what they're doing,
but I've always found it useful to read another person's take on a
subject, especially if I thought I knew all about it. Amazing how much
we know for a fact that just ain't so. ;-)

When installing a Peco turnout and a Tortoise switch machine, do you reduce
the tension on the Peco spring or remove it all together.  How do you reduce
spring tension... squeeze it together?

I am looking into insurance.  In order to determine how much my State
Farm homeowners covers and whether I should buy additional insurance
from the NMRA program, I need to value what I want insured.  Checking
on the NMRA insurance, I found the following:

I want to get hold of a 009 loco for a small railway I am building.
I have built white metal and etched brass locos, (04 and 05 shunters), and
want something not too expensive but reasonably accurate and not too
difficult to build.

Having begun to feel really smart a.s at having solved my ToT
problems and basking in the glow of some of the over bright LEDs ( now
