Tevan Decals29 Nov 2008 18:43 GMT9
I have a O gauge Parkside  Tevan which I wish to letter in BR. However the
XP rating decals are only in red. Was this correct for BR period or is it a
goof by the normally excellent Parkside.
Also doe anyone have a colour pic of tevan in BR livery on the web.
DIY decals/transfers29 Nov 2008 18:02 GMT23
Has anyone tried making their own decals/transfers using the various
special papers that you can put though your printer?  I've heard of
Crafty Computer paper and various other people selling decal paper on
Ebay.  Can anyone recommend a supplier?  I would like to make sheets of

I've got a Proto 2000 GP30 that I'm trying to install sound in.  I'm having
trouble figuring out what speaker I need to install, and where to install
it.  Does anyone have any experience with this or a similar unit?

The BMW model railroad's first running session28 Nov 2008 19:27 GMT2
Thought some of you might like to see the problems we residents of the
UK have in finding space to put our model railroad.
After many months of construction work my loft layout, the Becaton,
Michaelsberg and Williamstown Railroad (BMWR) had its first running

Hornby HST - DCC Ready or DCC fitted?24 Nov 2008 19:21 GMT25
I really like the look of the Blue and Grey Hornby HST that has just been
released.  I've had HST's since the 70's, but they aren't a patch on these!
I have a bit of dilemma, should I go for the DCC ready or the DCC fitted?
I have no DCC gear at all yet, but there is only £12 ...

What the ?23 Nov 2008 23:43 GMT2
My son had an early Christmas present at the weekend,  one of those
'Lineside Look @ Model Railways' with narration by Bob Symes.
As we sat watching it I notice a model which I can only describe as a
'single' unit of a DMU with two sets of wheels connected with coupling
Telev. Interf.21 Nov 2008 23:52 GMT44
I live in a bungalow & I have my railway layout in the roof (all of it). My
television aerial is inside. All my locomotives are supressed, but now I
have gone onto a diggy box & every time I run my loco's the picture
pixilates on the tele. Do I have to move the aerial to the ...
Restoring An American Flyer Engine21 Nov 2008 19:13 GMT4
I am restoring my American Flyer 282 engine.  Whatever that is in
the coal car isn't responding.  Voltage gets to it but nothing
happens.
What is that thing?  It looks like a motor that turns a cylinder
Speaking of cooked motors, "pulse power", etc.:21 Nov 2008 17:02 GMT29
The previous thread on DC voltages, stalled motors and such has made me
curious about PWM (pulse-width modulation) for DC model train control.
Anyone have any schematics for a DIY PWM power supply? I did an
AltaVista search*, but couldn't find anything on the first try. Must be
Coming pack to the hobby21 Nov 2008 06:52 GMT5
I'm thinking of coming back to the hobby after many years. Trouble is
I seem to have forgotten most of what I knew!
For example - what is the best glue to use on card kit model
buildings?
DCC/Booster requirements and  wiring for a G-Scale layout21 Nov 2008 00:19 GMT7
I'm finally getting around to building my train layout inside my
house.  I've been building all of the supports and wooden track to
suspend the system from the ceiling and the walls and I am finally at
the part where I need to look into how I am going to power the system.
