15 coaches up a 40:1 hill, no problem! And factory-fitted lights.
Triffic.

Hornby doing ok it seems - plus the earlier debate about currency gets
cleared up once and for all!

"Super O" - the roller wear issue26 Jan 2009 22:08 GMT3
If you are in the planning stages of considering "Super O"
for your layout and you are thinking, "I read somewhere
that the thin rail on 'Super O' is hard on rollers. Is this
a concern?"
F scale, anyone?26 Jan 2009 14:15 GMT3
Is anyone here modeling in F scale, and how do you find it?
Exhibitions, do you like them26 Jan 2009 13:04 GMT41
I as some people already know like going to exhibitions, are there any
people would recomend or avoid
My recomendations are

Streamlined  WC & BB Driving Wheel sets.24 Jan 2009 10:40 GMT1
I have moaned and groaned several times before regarding the
propensity of said models to suffer gear collapse and to run poorly
with low traction.
The last incident where the gear mangled up and one axle shed a wheel
Bachmann K324 Jan 2009 08:39 GMT1
Has anyone seen one of the new Bachmann K3 Moguls?  It looks like a
nice model, and I am quite keen to start accumulating a few lighter
engines since I have an A3, an A4 and a Deltic to satisfy the "need
for speed"; I like the N2 and would really like an Ivatt Atlantic if
What decoder do they use?23 Jan 2009 20:25 GMT19
I want to program my Genesis G1014 Southern Pacific F-7A Phase 1 using the
JMRI program but I don't know what kind of decoder Athearn builds into the
unit.  Can anyone tell me what it is please?
Thank you
DVFC?23 Jan 2009 14:01 GMT1
I am taking inventory of my N-scale rolling stock,
and find that I have some covered hoppers
that appear to have been made by by an entity named "DVFC".
Thinking back, I don't recall any outfit by that name
fouling point22 Jan 2009 17:37 GMT14
How do the prototype railroads mark the physical fouling point of a switch?
(American prototype)
That is, the point (not to be confused with the pointS of the switch
(aka turnout) itself) at which
Things I Learned Today20 Jan 2009 11:04 GMT8
While riding my bike back from a much-needed personal battery-
recharging jaunt to the Mojave desert today I learned two new things:
(A) Some BNSF container freights cross the downhill and flat sections
of the line at speeds of around 90 MPH, and (B) if you pace one such
First Decoder Install20 Jan 2009 08:07 GMT7
Well it is done. My first Decoder install on a "Bachmann Trolley Lighted"
Everything worked! :) It was a lot easier then I thought it would be. It took
about 20 minutes. Runs great!
One of the things I would do different the next time is to cut my wires a little
Odd ICI livery query20 Jan 2009 04:25 GMT7
On the Stockton on Tees gov local picture site there are a couple of pics of
tank wagons, one in standard class A livery but the other is a bit odd. It
looks like a 14 ton tank but has a white barrel with a broad vertical band
to either ends and the letters ICI writ large on the ...
prototype brake info reqs20 Jan 2009 01:18 GMT5
My first question (on this topic) is:
I believe that I've read that the designations "'B' end" and "'A' end"
refer to the end with the brakewheel (or eqv) and "the other" end;
is this true (or true enough)?
