http://www.googlyfoogly.com/celebs/Cameron-Diaz-At-36th-Birthday.html
A grinning Cameron Diaz was spotted at Barneys New York in Beverly
Hills at her 36th
birthday.
Details of European couplers06 Jan 2009 03:15 GMT2
I have gotten into European Rail via an interest in WW II German Armored
trains and associated engines and cars. Some of the models do not have
complete coupler details which I will most likely have to scratch build or
swipe from an unused kit. I work in 1/35. I'm looking for ...
Off to the Store05 Jan 2009 19:11 GMT9
Well it is Saturday and off to the train store. Davis Hobby Supplies,
Portsmouth, Va.
I enjoy going there. It is about a 100 mile round trip for me, but worth it. The
owners are great. Mr Davis passed away this past year, but his wife and son are

NWSL "The Riveter" max sheet thickness05 Jan 2009 16:36 GMT14
For reason of stiffness I rather not go under brass sheet thickness
of  0.5 mm (0.02").
I am afraid that this is too much for the NWSL punch/dye set, but
would appreciate comments from any of you having already tried it.
Peter Denny05 Jan 2009 13:46 GMT2
I noticed on another model rail forum reference to "the late Peter
Denny".
When was this?
I would have thought there would have been tributes in the model
Points05 Jan 2009 12:41 GMT7
I'd be interesting in hearing what people do for point motors.  I
have about 70 sets to motorise on the current layout, and was going
to use the "traditional" Peco motors and sliding-contact switches,
partly because a bit of me likes the conceit of lever frames at the
Acid-flux soldering trick.05 Jan 2009 07:36 GMT3
Problem with using acid-flux solder is that you have to carefully
scrub the soldered parts off with soap and hot water after soldering
so as to be *certain* that you've removed the last of the acid.
Failure to do so will cause the acid-exposed parts to darken and
Equipotential bonding05 Jan 2009 03:38 GMT33
Does anyone here bother with earth continuity round their layout, in
addition to the + and - ?  I ask because most of the under-board
wiring on mine is done in 6242Y (of which I had several 50m coils
lying around).  Force of habit set me to joining all the earths and
Ballasting jig02 Jan 2009 23:33 GMT6
I have about 400ft of track to ballast now, so I was considering
building a ballasting jig of some sort - a block of wood with the
shape of the ballast shoulders machined into it and slots for the
rails.  Has anyone tried this?  Or is it just as easy to simply pour
Collapsing valve gear.02 Jan 2009 17:03 GMT3
Over several months I have suffered problems with my WC Clovelly in
that the crank fouls the coupling rods on both sides. The problem is
bad enough that the piston guides get damaged and now the rear driving
wheels have become detached from the axle!  This loco was new last
Drawbacks of DCC #2701 Jan 2009 18:29 GMT13
Why does the WLAN drop out whenever I'm running trains?  Because the
DCC signal radiating from several hundred feet of track completely
swamps the signal, that's why!

Viessmann signal motors01 Jan 2009 01:30 GMT1
Happy New Year everybody.
Has anyone here used Viessmann damped solenoid signal motors? I have been
experimenting with one and I find that it has lost its damping - the
solenoid still works in both directions but without the slow movement.
And Now For Something Completely Different01 Jan 2009 00:12 GMT2
I just noticed that the new version of "Great Model Railroads" has an
article suggesting that you give your model railroad a history, and it
reminded me that I once did exactly that; so long ago that the
railroad in question no longer exists except for a few remaining locos
