Guard Rails31 Aug 2009 15:56 GMT10
I'm working on installing a couple guard rails that are to be functional.
However, I'm wondering how close to the rail they actually need to be to
work properly.  In turnouts, the guard rail actually pulls the wheel away
from the other rail so they have to be quite close.  ...
Will 'domestic' paint work in an airbrush?30 Aug 2009 17:06 GMT6
Although my model is US outline the problems are the same for UK outline
and I need help from people in the UK please.
I have quite a bit of track to be painted before ballasting. Up to now
I've only painted a relatively small area. mainly around pointwork. I
Long shot - looking for a plan of an oval with central shared terminus30 Aug 2009 13:58 GMT8
Some years ago I remember looking at a layout with a central terminus,
surrounded by an oval.
Train left, orbited for a bit, then arrived on the other side of the central
platform.
Fastener question29 Aug 2009 06:48 GMT17
I need some help with a project: Our club has a portable layout that we haul
from place to place. The legs consist of PVC pipe with plastic caps equipped
with leg levelers. The levelers currently use a threaded brass furniture
insert with a carriage bolt threaded inside and the ...

Magnet Problems...28 Aug 2009 10:46 GMT13
Hmmmm...
Problem #1. Turns out that the magnet is so powerful that it turns the
entire steel weight under the flat car into an extension of itself and
*that* grabs anything magnetic on the track at least 2" before the car

Estimating the Sale Price of a Layout26 Aug 2009 01:19 GMT16
As I've mentioned in other threads recently, I have an HO layout I built
for my kids 22 years ago that has been virtually untouched since. It's
time to sell it. I've been cleaning up things, and still have some more
work to do to check things out.
Analogue controllers?25 Aug 2009 11:27 GMT16
It's been a while, but I've been slowly building the layout nonetheless.
I'm now fixing and powering the track, and have the up/down lines
finished, and now working on the sidings/goods yard.
I made a control board up myself, using bits of wood and hardboard from
Political Railway Joke24 Aug 2009 21:50 GMT2
Went to Butterley the other day and was told this joke.
It's coming up to the next General Election and Gordon Brown's
publicity team decide it would be a good idea for him to travel the UK
by train..
Restarting an Unused HO Engine24 Aug 2009 17:25 GMT158
I thought I try the Subject engine on the tracks, but there's no
movemen. A hum comes from the engine and the voltage across the track
goes from 0 to 14 dc as I turn the transformer dial. It's been about 4
years since I took the engine out for a track run. I vaguely recall that
A Couple I Forgot:24 Aug 2009 05:00 GMT7
This one's based on a name from a 1970's board game that stuck in my
head. Causes some double-takes.

The old chestnut -- DCC22 Aug 2009 20:03 GMT51
Well being in mid scrap of my DC system and having sold off most of
the locos it occurs to me that I can still have a smaller outfit and
try this DCC lark. Question!   Which  is the state of the art and
recommended kit?
