| Bachmann Proto N Alco RS2 - Buy or avoid? | 09 Feb 2010 16:48 GMT | 2 |
Proto N - 75118 - Alco RS-2 "Union Pacific" #1295. On sale but I cannot get to the shop so it'll have to be mail order. However I wanted an RS2 and the Athern one is probably about twice the price. Spec seems good (although I am slightly concerned about body mount couplers

| DAPOL "tuning" | 09 Feb 2010 11:10 GMT | 6 |
From a trip to England, I brought with me a Dapol Voyager. It behaves a little bit "erratic", to say the least. Could anyone on this group suggest a website or forum where I might find information, inspiration on "tuning" this set, mechanically and

| Request for recomendation | 08 Feb 2010 16:34 GMT | 10 |
Okay - Lots has been bought (assorted three rail, two rail even some N Gauge) and we confirmed that the circle of track he got was 1st radius, which his (rather nice 2-6-4) cannot manage. He now understands why he needs 2nd radius (as a minimum) and what flex

Does anyone have a link to a good illustrated description of how to use weathering powders properly? I know it's not very hard but I'd like to get it right. Thanks

| Bronx Terminal layout video | 06 Feb 2010 21:24 GMT | 9 |
We've discussed this layout on here before. The trackwork seems to have been completed, but the buildings are only dummies. Now the site has been updated with a video showing the layout in operation. Yes, it's American, but it's wonderful, and I recommend viewing it.

| Glimer of sanity on the horizon | 05 Feb 2010 18:20 GMT | 43 |
Spent this weekend looking at the job and explaining about minimum radius curves, train lengths, point lengths and 4mm to the foot as a scale. The 'mountains' are now to be 'a hill or two' and we are starting with the high level oval running round the walls (lift up section across ...

| Crestline / Sarcophagus & Macabre Locomotive Portraits. | 05 Feb 2010 00:56 GMT | 2 |
The Crestline (short for Fredalba & Crestline: both real places) is my freelanced switching railroad located somewhere in southern California. The Sarcophagus & Macabre is it's wholly-owned logging subsidiary, and a homage to John Allen's Gorre & Daphetid: the model

| Railmatch models | 04 Feb 2010 18:35 GMT | 18 |
Anyone have a phone number for Railmatch Models? I have been trying to order some paint from them, but they have no phone number or postal address on their website, only an e-mail. Tried a couple of e-mails but can't get a reply.

I was looking for some IHC model train products, but their website, ihc-hobby.com, seems to be down. Is this a technical issue, or is there a problem there? Jeff

| Coupler query (N Scale) | 03 Feb 2010 17:45 GMT | 8 |
Just inherited some assorted N scale US outline stuff (-very- assorted) Bachman GP40, Model Power Alco Century 420 - Both with standard Arnold type N Gauge couplers (the Bachman loco is very smooth, the MP engine less so). Assorted MP freight stock - bit basic and all Arnold ...

| Traces Of Steam Yet Remain. (Photo Expedition) | 02 Feb 2010 21:07 GMT | 15 |
Rode through Indio on my bike last weekend and was surprised to see that the Southern Pacific's old enginehouse was still standing. So I rode back down there with my camera today (Jan 31, '10) and took a few pictures.

| Hornby Smoke Generators | 02 Feb 2010 18:06 GMT | 3 |
I've managed to destroy the smoke generator in my Hornby D49 Cheshire while trying to fix it. They seem a little temperamental and rather fragile. I think it's the same unit as used in the 28XX GWR 2-8-0? I'd guess that the Seuthe ones are better, but they are wrong shape. The
