Tuning Locomotives27 Jun 2010 16:26 GMT3
I just picked up a new Walthers Trainline GP9M at a show, and it runs
beautifully.  When I drop the power from ~8V to 0V, it continues on for
another inch or so.
How can I get my other Trainline GP9Ms to do that?  What kinds of
NMRA 'Not the Winter Meet' Benson England27 Jun 2010 12:41 GMT1
Due to the unusually bad weather in January, the NMRA Winter Meet Had to
be postponed. There was no date available at the hall until 26th June so
the Meet was re-titled 'Not the Winter Meet'
I've uploaded some photos which can be found at

HO Code 100 or Code 8326 Jun 2010 03:20 GMT51
I'm a beginner and starting my HO 5' by 9' layout. I've been doing a
lot of research on this, that, and the other. One of the things is
should I use Code 83 or 100? I see all sorts of things about what and
why it is but not what is recommended. Does it matter? Thanks in
Shop in Cromford?25 Jun 2010 11:24 GMT5
Does anyone know anything about: http://www.mount-tabor.co.uk/ ?
They seem to be a few doors from my favourite book shop, but I have
never heard of them and their web site appears to be unfinished.

In the past there has been some discussion on this group the latest being
in the thread "Ratio coach kits" about the availability of RSUs since
London Road Models stopped selling them due to them being unable to get
clear guidance on what was required to get CE compliance. Talking ...
DJH Claughton24 Jun 2010 12:18 GMT3
Made a start on it and seems ok so far. Correction on instructions. Theyre a
bit brief but diagrams are good.
Only quibble have at the moment is if put crank covers on as they show then
if want to remove wheels will have to remove crankpins. However it is
Retirement of Joseph Duddington24 Jun 2010 11:39 GMT1
I just came across this newsreel from 1944, when Joe Duddington, who
drove Mallard to the speed record, was filmed taking her for his last
shift.  It's an extraordinary sight, the great engine in wartime gloom
and the tiny number of people seeing him off.
Hornby Points22 Jun 2010 23:23 GMT7
Are they really that bad? I bought a hornby Flying Scotsman (about £50
version) and I can't send it backwards over points at any great speed
(even if the points are straight). The train will derail or cause the
points to open and send current down a siding with a stationary train
2 Loops, 2 Controllers.22 Jun 2010 13:10 GMT11
All the below is non DCC.
Well I've aquired another controller that is completely seporate from
the other. Please see the crude drawing below of a track layout. It's
not my track but it'll help me understand more of someone can guide
A handy find18 Jun 2010 17:20 GMT4
I know it's a bit of a turd-polishing exercise but I like the model so
I have ftted a Black Beetle to my Hornby Class 110. As I was bending a
piece of metal to shape to fit the motor support I spotted that a
spare piece of spur shelf slotted square angle was exactly the right
Interesting Prototype Sight.17 Jun 2010 16:21 GMT3
Rode my motorcycle out along the tracks over Beaumont Hill this
morning and discovered that the U.P. is doing some heavy-duty track
maintenance work out there: cleaning the ballast, Etc.
But leading the pack of track maintenance critters was something that
Best way of pre-bending Peco flexitrack?16 Jun 2010 10:47 GMT9
So that it will sit naturally in the desired curve
and not try to spring out of it?
Whoops! (Prototype Problems.)14 Jun 2010 10:46 GMT16
BNSF probably isn't happy about this situation (looks as if both locos
are totaled) but I'll bet the local wildlife is thrilled about the
grain that the leading hoppers spilled all along the river bank when
they tipped over...
