Plans for Ceiling Train Set23 Sep 2010 20:06 GMT15
I just created a new website that details plans on how to build a
classy cieling display case for a running model train.  The display
case is mounted only six inches from the ceiling of the room, and runs
around the parimeter.  It allows you to put a train in almost any room
Wagon Wheels22 Sep 2010 21:08 GMT15
I'm trying to model the late 1950's.
In general terms, would pre-nationalisation open wagons and closed vans
still be running on spoked wheels or would they have been fitted with 3-hole
by then?

Modelspoor/Utrecht Railway Museum21 Sep 2010 19:36 GMT10
I'm considering a visit to Utrecht for Modelspoor in late October.   Has
anyone else been?   Is it as good as it looks?   It looks bigger than Warley
and seems to include a very large trading area.   Correct?   The idea would
be go Thursday from the UK attend Friday and probably ...

Track plan required21 Sep 2010 06:19 GMT3
Would like to see a track plan of Merriwa, NSW. Branch line terminus closed
since 1988, west of Musswelbrook and Scone.
Have just spent a couple of frustrating hours trawling through responses on
the net, using various search words and phrases. Quite a number of

Only one N gauge layout, and that is German outline, by the sound of
it. Have they not heard of the resurgence in british N?

Baseboards20 Sep 2010 09:28 GMT6
This might seem like a daft question.  I've got a huge pile of  15mm
thick MDF (left behind by the previous owners), could I use that as
baseboard material ?

Big Ugly.19 Sep 2010 00:46 GMT13
Confession: I'm a steam guy who harbors a secret love for certain
diesels.  The bigger and the uglier the better. I've been through the
12-step program, but so far it's only enabled me to enjoy throttle
settings of up to 8.
RJ12  cables.18 Sep 2010 12:21 GMT24
Hornby use 3 wire, 6 contact RJ 12 plug and wire cables. To correct
the polarity each end is fitted with it's plug inverted.   Does anyone
have any idea why a similar plug with full 6 wire connections produces
a fault?   In my book redundant wiring should not pose any problems.

A gauge too far ?16 Sep 2010 22:03 GMT3
At the back of this months Model Rail I noted an advert for Bahnhof
Europa 1:450 scale 'T' gauge.
I think this is going a little too far !
The detail IS very good and the motor must be the size of one of those
Weston Figures15 Sep 2010 00:17 GMT1
Does anyone know if Weston Figures are still being produced? Who is
it? I redid the WESTON page on my web site to let everyone know my
involment with the line of products when I was working with Campbell

Advice on Paint14 Sep 2010 20:48 GMT3
Thought would try Railmatch LMS Crimson Lake instead of own mix from
Humbrol. However it is gloss and much darker than I like, does matt varnish
tone it down ? Any suggestions as to what colour to add to lighten it a
little (or even a medium amount)?
