2003 Estes catalog17 Nov 2003 00:54 GMT2
While roaming the newest Hobby Lobby in B'ham, I stumbled upon something I
haven't seen in a hobby shop here in several years.... a current Estes
catalog. I'm sure someone here has seen it but since I haunt the half dozen
local hobby shops regularly, it did come as a minor surprise. ...

Hey Guys, many newbies are coming to rec.models.rockets cause they

CP/CG for Centuri USS America16 Nov 2003 16:47 GMT7
I'm trying to build a clone of the Centuri USS America, does anyone
have either a good CP or a model that they can load with a C6-3 and
measure the CG?
I know the original didn't require nose weight, but I plan on a 24mm

"Retro" sounds better than "copies of Centuri designs".
Good god, look at the parts pages. They are copies of the Centuri catalog!

I goofed16 Nov 2003 05:12 GMT3
I need a little help. Just found out when I was putting my AT Wart Hog
together that the thrust ring did not go in far enough.  Anything I can do
to fix this?  Luckily the MMT assembly is not in the rocket yet.  Please
help, the launch is tomorrow.

Another promotion idea16 Nov 2003 02:23 GMT13
You know, NASCAR (or atleast some of the drivers) may be willing to
throw some publicity our way.  They have been working with NASA for
several years on different projects.  They work with a lot of worthy
causes where kids are concerned (Tony Stewart just donated $1M to the
A8-516 Nov 2003 02:09 GMT9
I hadn't seen any A8-5's in a while but I saw tons of them today. The date
was 5-20-2001. When did they drop it from the line?

looks like FFFFG is getting phased out. the following are supposed to be
direct replacements for FFFG and are cleaner (clean up with water) and do
not require permits

Dangerous Hobby15 Nov 2003 21:51 GMT45
Got your attention? This isn't about rocketry.
Recently, an instructor of a student flying
a radio-controlled helicopter was killed when
the rotor plades struck him in the neck
29mm "HonestJohn" kit15 Nov 2003 20:39 GMT5
Does anyone make a 29mm Honest John kit? I like the military style rockets and
will probably end up ordering the PML AAMRAM2 kit here shortly. I have the
plans to scratch build an Honest John so that is an option also (with LOC
parts)
My trip to the VLA15 Nov 2003 16:54 GMT5
I'm currently on a business trip to Albuquerque, and decided to take
a quick day trip to the VLA near Socorro, NM.
The rocketry-related portion of this post is that they have a
visitors center at the VLA, and the introductory video
Rocket Challenge: Response from Tide15 Nov 2003 14:28 GMT17
I e-mailed Tide, and here's the response I got!

Ah--our Tide commercials did their job!
Thanks for the great comment.  Rocket Challenge is a wonderful show
Estes vs. Aerotech15 Nov 2003 13:42 GMT32
If I have a rocket that uses 24mm Aerotech motors, can I use 24mm
Estes motors in the same rocket? I ask this because the Estes motors
are cardboard-encased and have the nozzle inside the tubular shape,
while Aerotech motors have the nozzle sticking out at one end.
