What to buy - F & G rockets?08 Jan 2004 09:14 GMT27
I've become a BAR over the last few months and have graduated to F & G level
rocketry.    Right now I'm at the 29mm learning curve and while there is
certainly a large amount of knowledge on the net, some things you just have
to learn by yourself.

Any members here have the answer?
Does anyone know if any TRA-sanctioned launch has been canceled
strictly because of the insurance problem that was resolved in less
than a day?

engine substitutions and cheapo parachutes07 Jan 2004 03:20 GMT2
I'm getting back into rocketry after 30 years, and am starting slowly.  I
bought some Estes D and E rockets and found to my surprise that they still
have those plastic parachutes and rubber-band shick cords.

Why is the total impulse and thrust curve so radically different on this
motor based on whether you look at EM data or tripoli data?

[OT - semi] Mars Rover Animated Videos07 Jan 2004 02:50 GMT2
I'm sure by now pretty much everyone has seen the animated videos that
NASA put out, covering the launch, flight, landing and roving of the

Thrust curve differences06 Jan 2004 22:47 GMT13
It appears that both the TRA and the NAR have tested the H220.  Would
someone please explain why the two results are so dramatically
different.  For instance, in the NAR test, the peak thrust is 275N but
in the TRA test it is 496N.
Lathe06 Jan 2004 18:31 GMT22
Saw a 3 foot lathe with 14" deep work area for $129 today, new.  Has 4
speeds adjusted via belt on different wheel sizes.
It looked perfect for tube sections and nosecone/boattail work... not to
mention other hobbies...
