For rocketry, useful accelerometer ranges?13 Aug 2004 19:04 GMT5
Motorola's Freescale Semiconductor has introduced a few solid-state x-y
accelerometers comparable to those of Analog Devices.  Their
manufacturing part numbers are MMA62xxQ (xx is 60 to 63 for 1.5g max, or
31 or 33 for 10g max.
Opening nosecone13 Aug 2004 18:34 GMT3
This project is at least a year or two away from being started, but I'd
still like to know if anyone has tried a parachute deployment from inside
a nosecone that splits in half and (each half) folds back (quickly under
spring loading I imagine).
NARAM 46 - Semroc?13 Aug 2004 18:25 GMT4
Anybody get a look at Semroc's wares this weekend? I got an e-mail
from Carl McLawhorn a few weeks ago, and he said they were (my

Engine delay numbers13 Aug 2004 18:09 GMT11
I just thought about this yesterday, and I'm curious what the experts think.
Is it useful to adjust the engine delay numbers to improve recovery in high
winds?  Meaning, the bird you're launching flies a C6-5, but you launch with a
C6-7 to get a lower chute opening.  Pardon me if ...
Please...Help Me Understand Something.....13 Aug 2004 17:41 GMT47
I have been observing this group for around a year now. My son and I are
pretty excited about rocketry. I have my level 1 now and his club at school
went to TARC this year. I had hoped to find an online resource for rocketry
here, but just about all I see  are venomous messages ...
Stability13 Aug 2004 17:40 GMT11
Which is inherently more stable - a narrow body tube or a wide one?  Assume the
same length for each.
I would guess the wide one because there's more surface area, and more 'mass'
to keep it steady.  How far off am I?
Build your own long distance balsa glider?13 Aug 2004 14:01 GMT1
Hi... I'm looking for plans for building a long distance model glider.
I couldn't find any better-sounding newsgroup to ask, so I thought
maybe someone here might know.
When I was a teenager, our Scout group made a bunch of these gliders.

Pictorial tribute to an rmr'er from an rmr'er...13 Aug 2004 03:02 GMT22
OK, well, it is ONE picture but a nice one it is!
Mr. Robert DeHate made a nice pass at our last METRA launch and the byline goes to another
rmr'er and rocket painter emeritus, Mr. Bill Wehner...
