NC Paint Removal30 Nov 2004 21:23 GMT22
I've got a 4" PML nosecone that needs refinishing due to paint chipping off.
Does anyone have a good technique for removing the old paint other than
sanding?  Sanding just heats the paint enough to turn it to sticky goo -
clogs the paper and generally just makes a mess.  ...

In the words of one DOT official..., "Mr.
Irvine's violations and subsequent violation penalties may well
hurt/prevent any chance or possibility of relaxing DOT hazmat shipping
regulations, especially where HPR motors are concerned".

Digital camera for launch photos?30 Nov 2004 17:08 GMT26
I've really liked my geriatric Olympus D-400 digital camera.  But it is
absolutely the pits for trying to take launch photos.  With the holidays
coming up I was hoping for suggestions from you all about a decent
digital camera to go on my "wish list."  Anyone care to recommend a
CP for 7.5 inch LOC V2..?29 Nov 2004 18:42 GMT3
I have been looking for information on the LOC Precision 7.5 inch V2

know of a website with this information, a Rocksim file, a CP
calculator, etc.
Cold weather ignitions29 Nov 2004 18:38 GMT11
After thawing out from yesterday's launch I got to thinking on whether
temperature has any noticable effect on igniting motors. If there's
clear weather the local club will fly year round. And since I'll have
the free time since I won't be working much for the next 4 years I ...

Drilled brick nozzles29 Nov 2004 10:40 GMT19
One simple (probably silly) idea for making cheap easy-to-make nozzles:
drill them out from firebrick (or even tile?, stone?) with round hole-cutter
with centering drill bite. What you get is piece of brick looking like Bates
grain. Later then it is possible to make central hole ...
Clarification on "Amateur Rocket Motor Construction" Subject Matter29 Nov 2004 08:16 GMT12
In a recent thread about the book, "Amateur Rocket Motor Construction",
someone posted the following message.

"I have the book and I've made a few motors from it. The book is "OK" I
Rocket Recovery29 Nov 2004 05:21 GMT15
Built my first two rockets in 15 years this weekend. They flew great on A8-3
engines and I recovered both of them after the parachutes fully deployed (I
was quite proud). However, when I put C6-7's into them....well, that was the
last I saw of either of them.....one just totally ...

motor retainer advice?28 Nov 2004 17:00 GMT59
Am getting ready to build my first G-size rocket (LOC Weasel-29) and am not
sure of the pros/cons of various engine retaining systems (beyond just
masking tape, which has me leary).
Any advice or comments?
